I really want to get this kind of sound out of my rig.

Right now im using a Epiphone Flying V connected into a VOX valvetronics AD30VT amp.

I really like this HEAVY distortion but can see to get it out of my amp.

What settings should i use on my amp and under which amp model setting?

Do i need to buy a pedal? I hope the price is under $100.

THX a lot,

Yeah, that's hi-gain stuff, like ENGL, Diezel, Krank, Laboga Mr Hector, Rivera Knucklehead and Tré to name a few. You wont get these amps for under $100 tongue.gif
Depends what amp models you have. Any of the above?
I don't know what pedals to use... I think Line6 has a pedal for it but I can't recall it's name, Ubermetal or something. Dunno if it's any good though.

Yea i can get this type of distortion from my rig, just pedalwise for a budget i would go with the Boss Distorsion ... i think its the d1? something like that its orange hard to miss lol. other than that Line 6 Amps have great built in distorsion, you could probably get that sound without a pedal on a line 6 which costs around 350 canadian.. im selling 1 right now if your interested tongue.gif only 250 canadian.. its 30watts but plenty big for practice or small jam sessions

I was planning to buy a line 6 but am not intrested now.

What do you guys think of a BOSS MT-2 or DIGITECH DF-7?
Which is better?
I have a US HI-Gain setting on my amp but strangely the Nu metal setting sound more distorted...

A few sound demos on the line6 pedal http://line6.com/tonecore/uberMetal.html and an interactive demo and a video demo.

I hava no opinion on any of the pedals, hvn't plated any of them, including the Ubermetal.

Your best bet would be to go into a music store and actually try out the pedals. there are a million types of variations of different distortion/metal sounding pedals. I have a DS-1 From Boss which I like a lot. but I'm thinking about getting the metalzone. My friend has the Line - 6 DR distorto which is okay, but eats through batteries. it gives you uber long sustain but unfortunately that also means more feedback.
definitely have to try out a few for yourself.

Look at the guy's other videos. He has a PodXT. Might be a patch on that. They run around $300 though.

I have a Vox amp like yours, and yea the closest sound you can get to that is Nu-Metal setting but even that isn't as heavy. Taking out the mids and boosting treble a bit might get you a little closer however as people have said the easiest solution is to get a distortion pedal.

one thing giving that tone are those EMG's, gotta love those EMG's! little more than a hundred$ though... id say go with the Zoom G2 (i think?), i had it (upgraded to the 7.2tt) and i loved it. I could get anything from extreme metal to clean as a whistle. All of this for only 99.99$

Yes, I agree with Lespaulrocker.

Sometimes It's the Pickups that gives it that Strong Heavy Tone.
