Aw man, is that how it's spelled? I thought someone said Doll, so I got one of them inflatible kind. I couldn't figure out how in the world anyone got any recording done with that...., she just sits there with that big Open mouth stare making me feel uncomfortible while I'm trying to concentrate on my recording. biggrin.gif

Seriously.... wink.gif How are you recording?

I use a PC to record with as I spent all my money on the guitars and not enough left to afford a MAC, but I use Audacity which is a free download and works just fine for simple recording, then exporting to .mp3 to upload back up to share.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Audacity is OK but for a more complete set up try REAPER, especially as it supports VST's and VSTi's. Meaning you can also download the free versions of Amplitube etc. to use within it!!

Ahh, ok. Thanks for the info SJ. I may just copy this over to the other thread I started. Don't know that it will help anyone or not, but never know. With so many of us here using different things, I'm sure there are some good ideas out there that the rest of us can use to make our lives a little easier... wink.gif

Great take mate! So ok guys... we could end this song here, and start with a a new song for... our EP?? Maybe we could record 3 or 4 songs in this way and publish it as a free download EP... what do you think? Is anybody interested in doing the art cover? biggrin.gif

Cool idea! smile.gif I think doing more of these would be fun. Having an EP for free would be awesome.

I can't help with the art though...

No worries. If you decide to use Reaper then Tony wrote a whole series of articles about setting it up and starting to record with it.
You can find the first one HERE.
biggrin.gif

If you need any other help with it just ask, I started with Audacity, then Reaper and now I'm using SONAR X2.
I'm no expert but if I can help I will!

I'll see if I can sketch something out for the cover!

Ok, that sounds good... literally. I'll give reaper a try, SONAR looks like I may need government clearance to have that on my PC. Does it come with the launch sequence codes? tongue.gif

Also, are you recording your guitar straight through the software effects?

Hahah, that's how I felt when I first opened SONAR up!!
Search on Youtube for Tutorial vids as well, in fact just look HERE!!!

Yeah, I've got a very basic set-up really.
Guiar goes into:-

Then I was using Guitar Rig 4 or Waves GTR 3.5 in Reaper. SONAR ships with a lite version of Overloud TH2.

That looks familiar enough, I'd like to start adding some cool effects into the mix. I really like the synth sounding stuff that I've heard around, though I definitely don't know anything about what to use for that sort of sound. I assume I could find something for one of these pieces of software...

Thanks again sir!

this is a great idea, but , to get a better quality I think there has to be one person doing the mixing( and you are the professional here Gabe ) to keep volume levels the same

Ok here is some of the stuff Ive painted the first two are a couple hand painted "portraits". One of me and one of my Dad. Then a sketch of a tattoo I was asked to design and then some misc. airbrush stuff.

I have had an idea also, for a while I have wanted to take a real photo and paint on top of it. Like a photo of a cave and paint a monster coming out of it, or a real castle and paint a dragon. Since we all live all over the world I'm sure we could get some cool photographs of different places or things from where we live and come up with an idea of painting things onto the picture to fit our theme or concept. Half photography, half paint. That is my idea. smile.gif And I won't be offended if you do not like my style for album art. wink.gif

Thanks! smile.gif That is a fuel tank for a pulling tractor. I painted that too, but I don't really have any good pictures of it. It is one of those really big 2 motor heavy duty pulling tractors.
