And what about this week guys? what are you practising?

Im working on your Rocker Riff 2 and 80s Hard rock lessons. Almost got both of them down, just need to get a little tighter with them.
Also working on Cosmin's 'Voice of the guitar 1 & 2'. Just trying to get the bends nailed as its a weak area for me.
Ben's Hand sync lesson. Ive been on this one for a while. I need to increase the BPM by 5 to be at full speed.
Ive got Ivan's Sabbath rhythm & lead lesson done. Hopefully get a rec take of it this week. smile.gif

My best mate has taken over our spare room (my music room) until this weekend, as he's going back to Brazil for a few months, so just playing acoustic here and there.

It's making me hungry to practice

I can't say if it's the "way of practicing" a lesson but I play over the main video of these lessons

Winter Tune from Piotr : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Winter-Tune

Iron Maiden For Beginners from Gabriel : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Iron-M...n-For-Beginners

Deep Digging from David Wallimann : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/deep-digging

I play those 3 every single day, at this moment I'm playing even without amp (7 am here biggrin.gif) ^^

I'd like to do REC sessions but I'm too lazy to mix rhythm and solo parts together, and since I'm perfectionnist (I guess I am) when I make a single mistake it discourages me to record it laugh.gif I think Instructors expect me to do almost perfect work, I don't want to be labelled as "the newbie who plays like sh*t" biggrin.gif

Tonight I'm practicing "Skunk Funk Lesson" by Max Sokolov.
I hope to have it ready for the REC in a couple of weeks. (Bringing it up to speed now).

Also, I spent a lot of time tonight with "Alternate Picking Etude with String Skipping" by Emir Hot.
This one is tough so I slow the backing track down in Guitar Rig and increase the tempo a little bit at a time. Got a long way to go with this one even though I got a pretty good recording of it over a year ago at 60bpm.

As for other lessons, the list is long. I focus on AP for about an hour each night. I've got a bunch of lessons memorized that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to play at full speed, but hey, you got to start somewhere. Here's my AP workout list. I focus on a different one each night...

Mojo Oro, Part 1
Mojo Oro, Part 2
Alternate Workout
Triplet Etude Lesson
Neoclassical Etude #2
Alternate Picking with String Skipping
Luca Turilli (Rhapsody)
Muris Varijac Alternate Picking
Neoclassical Etude #1
Robben Ford Pentatonics

I spend the rest of my time each day working on a new tune to hopefully record for the REC soon. For these, I pick ones within my ability. Maybe sometimes just out of reach. If I push real hard I can sometimes get the harder ones good enough for a REC take. I love recording. It's hard work, but about the only way for me to have something to show for my music/guitar passion. One day, I'll start working on original stuff again. But that takes even more work, coming up with all the parts, etc.

But you have to start somewhere man, if you keep postponing it, you never will - I know I did that smile.gif Don't be afraid it might not be what you expect it to be, at the first few tries, but it's also a form of practicing - becoming better and better at expressing your true self. At least this is how I see it smile.gif

Cosmin is right about this! Start now mate, at least dedicate some minutes or half an hour to jam and record your own ideas. This is also something that you have to train as much (or maybe more) than technique.

I have a few ideas in my head right now. It's just tough to get anything to "gel" or extend beyond a basic riff and into a song. For me anyway, it seems like if I don't have a chunk of time like 2 hours even for the drum part, then the ideas start to fall apart. Maybe I have to get a different approach. Thanks for the push though guys. Got any ideas about how to develop riffs into songs? Give me an assignment. I'll follow it and post my progress.

Well, at first, you don't have to waste 2 hours on writing drums! It's better to use a simple loop to give the overall song take form, then you will have time to arrange it, even a drummer can do it... the best tip that I can give you is start doing an analysis of the structures and progressions of your favourite songs as we do it in my Army.
