I am going to start a thread in my Instructor forum on the "Music Biz" in general and add informational resources. Please do feel free to add and share your ideas/thoughts/experiences.

To kick off, here is a short documentary about the "State of the Biz" so to speak. Very brief snippets of interviews with various Pro musicians talking about the impact of file sharing, making a living etc.

This vid features a record exec talking about "Direct to Consumer" marketing. If you are ever planning to sell your music, by yourself or with a lable, etc. Watch this vid. He talks about ways to add value to whatever your offering beyond just putting the music itself up. Sadly, the music itself is often a loss leader. And any music online is going to be pirated, so adding something to the package that is unique, and non digital is a great way to enhance sales.
