I don't understand the 4note choices. Where do you pull this from? what do you compare it to?

"You can also have Ab MIN and Ab Dim on bVI scale degree of the scale."

This neither, as Abmin has a prefect fifth and b7, while Abdim has b5 bb7 :S

Thats the beauty of knowing intervals and how to construct chords really well.

Here is C harmonic minor scale : C D Eb G Ab B C ; correct?

Now here are your possible chords from Ab

Ab C Eb = Ab maj chord! (root major 3rd perfect 5th
Ab B Eb = Ab min chord (root minor 3rd or augmented 2nd and perfect 5th)
and
Ab B D = Ab dim triad ( root minor 3rd or augmented 2nd and diminished 5th or augmented 4th).

So when you learn about enharmonic spellings really well and apply intervals to that you start to discover some pretty awesome things in scales like that one wink.gif

Wow, that's some great ideas! I never though of it that way!

As I have to math out the string notes everytime I build a chord, it tends to be a bit less complex.
I am definitely going to start looking at it this way.

Oh, R 2 and 7 is a valid chord? will that be like.... X7/sus2 ?

I think you mixed it up again my friend

Enharmonic spelling is important here

C = B#
or B = Cb

So Ab minor chord is Ab B Eb from the actual scale. When you rename B you get Cb which is minor 3rd instead of B which is Augmented 2nd.
The point here is that its all the same sounding note , its just written different.

So there is no Sus 2 anything.
Those are unconventional type chords - here we are talking about conventional ones - major minor augmented and diminished and their 4 part chord extensions wink.gif

I didn't count from Ab biggrin.gif Reposted.

Do you have some examples of that type from the major scale chords btw? As this is the scale I am most familiar with (quite familiar even)
