So I was getting tired of the old routine i had and felt/feel that i had room to improve the overall sound of things, i started using Reaper now and i'm happy with it, took a little bit to get used to. Also using vst amps well 1 of the 2 and i'm happy with the newer sound still have to improve but hoping that comes with time. Here's the video I made with all that

Hey, I've watched the video, first of all, you played very creative riffs, sounded really fresh and interesting. About the guitar tone: I think you've managed to create a modern-sounding heavy tone. I would definitely add a BBE Sonic Maximizer plugin, which will make the tone even better.

See the "Improving Recording Tone Quality With Vsts" topic here as well, I've mentioned BBE there too, and Sinisa & the other guys have written many great ideas regarding guitar tone.

Nice riffing mate! Out of what I know since I have followed your recordings, your riffing was always great!

The solo bit could be a bit more flowing if you were to ask me - it would make a nice contrast with the really math sounding riffage smile.gif

what is math like mathmetal?? I haven't listened to that genre at all so it would be hard for me to make a riff like that smile.gif BUT it would be cool

Meshuggah can be considered math metal for instance biggrin.gif The music is based on riffs dealing with odd metric and polyrhythm. In general, the big idea is complex, tight and well executed riffage biggrin.gif

I'd be curious to see what you can come up with in terms of riffs, now that you could consciously think about that direction smile.gif

Hey mate wink.gif I have selected a serious bunch of lessons based on odd time signatures (Level 1 to 4) and a nice inspirational thread in which people posted songs based on odd time signatures smile.gif

Let me know what you think, ok?

Good video and song mate! The riffs sound very fresh and modern and the overall sound is good! To add something to what Jonas and Cosmin said I could say that the drums could have more mixing work, work on each channel (kick, snare, toms, room, etc) with compressors and eqs to get the best of them.

Thanks man, Yeah the drumming I just took from youtube lol i'm terrible at making drums which is probably my biggest weakness when making a song cause i can't put all my ideas together..

Well, it gets better and better with practice. I usually look out for patterns in which the time signature is divided and count out like that.

For instance if you have 7/8 and 5/8 it can be divided like 1 2, 1 2, 1 2 3, 1 2, 1 2 3 - does this make any sense? If you wish we can see each other in the chat room these days and I can show it to you live smile.gif Or Thursday at the v-chat session at 8 PM London time.
