Nowhere near finished, but always nice to bring people along when I write a new track. Gonna experiment a bit more with this one, think Megaman with Animals as Leaders and Periphery.

First part is the intro, over the distorted part would be the acoustic melody with an electric guitar. (Did have it recorded, but didn't sound right laugh.gif)

Second part is just some interlude/bridge section, from 1:15 should be a small solo.

Pretty bare bones right now, hopefully will have the time to finish it within the month. And for people that missed it, here's the first song where I kept a log on GMC.

Man, I LOVE THIS! My kind of stuff for sure and I am very curious to see where it will be going. My only suggestion at this point - I think you already know it though, is that the distortion part is way to low in terms of volume, compared to the clean part smile.gif

Hit me up as soon as you got news on this piece!

Yeah, the lead guitar part will fill up the distorted part a bit more, finding it hard to get a good lead tone without it making the transition sound weird.

Updated the track a little, ignore the mix.

Still gotta work out the timing of some of the fast pentatonic things in the intro lead, some of the funk part and pretty much the whole chorus.

The synthy lead is from the Axe FX, just testing out how fast/what I can actually play with it. So some of the synth jumps around a bit.

Anything past the chorus is still the same for now.

Funnily enough, he made some presets for the Axe FX a couple of months ago, and all my presets are pretty much based off his now.

Sure,

Guitars - Dean VMNT1 and Ibanez PGM301
Amp - Axe FX 2
Drums - EZDrummer Metal Machine and some electronic kit in Logic Pro
Bass - Trilian 'Hardcore Bass' soundset
Strings, Clean/Acoustic, Rhodes - Omnisphere

Signal chain is just Guitar -> Axe FX -> USB to Laptop

QUOTE
Rhythm guitar is double tracked, panned L/R are more 'bassy' tracks. In the middle is a trebly rhythm track pretty low in the mix, just filling out the soundscape.

On each side is a different amp model and cab. In this case, two variations of a 5150 amp with an ENGL cab and a Mesa cab (Redwirez IRs - SM57 and the 'room' ones).

Kinda hard to explain but,
Signal -> Gate -> Drive -> Signal split into two -> Amp (L/R) -> Cab (L/R)

I double track this, so it's kinda like quad tracking.

I guess one 'trick' is to have a drive pedal (real or VST) with nothing on the 'Drive' parameter, just seems to tighten up the tone a bit.

Experimenting with how little gain I can use while having a 'big' sound, never realized how much double tracking negates the need for more gain. I think actual note clarity will be important for some riffs i've got written for later.

I'll probably use a different rhythm tone for the funk part.

QUOTE
Bass Guitar, pretty simple. One clean bass guitar sound. Then a duplicated distorted one low in the mix. The Ola Englund approach.

QUOTE
The clean/acoustic-like sound is triggered with an audio-to-midi plugin. Pumped full of reverb and delay. Doubt i'd actually record them, I think they fit well with the glitchy drums and the rhodes. And i'm kinda lazy when it comes to recording stuff like that. laugh.gif

Lead guitars are still filler tones, but I love the way Misha's lead tone has a kinda 'mid-y' feel when you pick hard.

Biggest challenge will be trying to get the synthetic sounds to mesh together with the guitars, but actual composition is still my priority right now.

Just read the comments, not really in a position to record guitars right now, but the structure is finished.

Hey mate! This sound very luxurious and I enjoyed it.

The structure sounds nice, but I strongly suggest you to re-record the lead from 0.57 and also - I am sure you already know it - the presence and level difference from 0:51 - I'd boost that up a bit more.

Honestly, I fell in love with the groove and orchestration for the intro and outro. Takes my mind to this song right here, which I love smile.gif

Yeah, can definitely hear the similarities!

I'm gonna have to re-record everything anyway, there was a new Axe FX firmware update that changed all my presets laugh.gif

I've already reworked the lead a bit so its a lot more playable for me.

Uh oh... Digital stuff is always causing havoc, right? smile.gif Anyway, I am looking forward to hear the next version - from the moment I heard that intro, it hooked me up like crazy!
