So, are beginner takes welcome?
Ran out of time but was able to put this together.
If it's too late, that's fine, but some feedback would still be appreciated.

Btw, this thread got me to load up Skyrim, and, well, now you know why
it took me so long to get it done. dry.gif

Ben's ending solo's amazing!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif U maniac!! wink.gif
And the guy who did mix did a pretty good job this time! I like the way how each take emerges into another, while alltogether forming an outstanding unity !

Great Collab, but I not sure I like the full stop at the end.

I think I could have used a bit more time for perfecting my own take, but glad to be in.

Feedback :

DeGroot - Fantastic take my friend. Totally melodic. Those octave chords are a nice surprise to the listener too as they build tension and they're always a good way of outlining a strong, memorable melody.

Dieter - It's nice to see you growing as a guitar player D-Man. You've got a good, thick tone which will serve you well as you improve even further. Try to time certain notes so they land on a strong beat. Make everything sound decisive as your takes can sound a bit 'meandering' at times . Concentrating on building melodies with strong timing will counteract the 'meandering' sound and make your solos even better !

Patrik - Brilliant opening lick to your solo.. really grabs the listener's attention ! The rest of it is just as good, with strong melody lines and no unneeded notes. The fast run could be tighter as you've already alluded to but the composition itself is great. Well done !

Enlo - Again, like Patrik, you build a nice melodic piece. That sweep is devastatingly good too. After that, there's a note that sounds out of place to me (like a major scale instead of a minor?) and the end legato-ish run sounds a bit messy.. but that's my only criticisms as the rest of it is very strong. The whammy bar vibrato at the end is a great choice.. more stuff like this please !

Ulrik - A really controlled solo here. It shows great restraint and patience. Instead of adding too many notes you've concentrated only on serving the song with melody (Man, I've used that word so many times already) and nothing sounds out of place. Brilliant contribution !

Greg - Well we all know that Greg never turns in any tasty takes with good melody at all..................... NOT ! tongue.gif Man, this is another high carat gold offering from you and I'm knocked off my feet as always. Just staggeringly good ! I'll leave it at that before your head gets too big......

H4H - Hell yeah, a classic take from the Viking with the wristbands made from rabid wolves that died by his mighty hand. That opening group of phrases is just pure gold. One of my fave licks from the whole collab. It was stuck in my head for ages. In fact the whole thing is great. I think I'll leave it there. It's kind of a shame that I put your take where it is because the 9th at the end worked better going back into the main theme but oh well.. it still rocks !

MossRoller - Are you the same MossRoller that started with my Guitar Bushido way back in the mists of time ? It can't be ! What have you done with him ? Imposter ! biggrin.gif Seriously, I'm totally impressed at your composition of this solo. It's got it all. Melody, variation, enough repetition to establish a theme but not so it gets boring. Bending, vibrato.. and that descending lick at 5:01 is sophisticated stuff. Triumphant offering from the Mississippi Master cool.gif

Sam - I love the way you open this solo. The melody itself is great but what makes it even cooler is the fact that you begin playing at the end of the previous bar. Things like this make a lot of difference towards making a player sound more experienced because it shows you don't have to wait until each bar comes round to know your place. It also ties things together nicely and makes it flow, whereas always starting and stopping at the start/end of a bar can make it sound like a bunch of exercises put together. Great tone too. I would offer the same advice I offered Dieter. Try to let your melodies lock into the beat a bit more. It's great that you have a relaxed, flowing feel but you need to ally this to a strong sense of timing your melodies and then you'll be unstoppable !

WeePee - Like Ulrik, this is a very restrained and controlled take from you. I was almost waiting for some outrageous moment like a spider jumping out of the screen or something but you kept it nice and respectful wink.gif It works well. That harmony is also a nice touch and the ending is cool !

AK Rich - The harmonies to the main theme are a great touch, adding a heroic 80's sound that was greatly welcomed ! I really love this slippery whammy take. This take was ad-libbed if I'm correct ? I can't criticise too much if it was ad-libbed but if it were a composed take I'd get those bends a bit more under control but that's me only note. Nice work !

Gitarrero - Christian comes along to remind us that, no matter how good something is done, there is always a German who can come along and do it better ! If we're going to do a Dragonborn Collab then there's damn well going to be a dragon !! Am I right ? biggrin.gif This is why we love you, dude !!! smile.gif The solo's good too with great timing and melody (the M word again !). I think this collab brought out a mature, reflective melodic side to everybody.

And yet......

Slavenko - The Slav Man comes along and tears the collab a new exit hole ! I like your approach of a lower harmony for the main theme. There's a couple of notes which are slightly out by a semitone but, forgetting those for a second, it works brilliantly. The rest of the solo is pure attitude, no holds barred. Your choice of scales is interesting. It's not what I would pick but you obviously hear things differently to me. I grabbed my guitar and worked out that your using both the E Minor Pentatonic and C# Pentatonic. It gives bit of an 'outside' sound to things as the song is mainly in A Minor but it's so crazy that I think it kind of works. It's so audacious that you can't ignore it. It doesn't sound like 'Oh he made a mistake' because you obviously meant to play it. You nutter ! wink.gif

Well done to everyone. This and the Schwarzenegger Collab have been the best in my opinion. They've been my favourite to play, edit and I think they've received some of your best ever efforts ! As always, it's an honour to have served with you cool.gif

Now how the hell am I ever going to top this ? What are Gitarrero and WeePee going to expect next ??? ph34r.gif

Thanks Ben, u left me speachless, i'm flattered because never thought of that i would inspire you to play something in "my style" Yeah, it's a bit odd, but i just played what suited nice to my ear, and forgot the regular rules and basis...
Hope to serve you again in some collab wink.gif
