I've always wanted to get into these kind of licks but I've never really had the idea of what they're used for etc, i can find tabs but I want to understand what's the use of it or what makes them etc... kind of a generic question but i would like to get my mind cleared on this.

Personally, I use them mainly for arpeggios.

I find it a lot more articulate than sweeping cause you can just pick every note and get the 'machine gun' feel.

wow thanks cosmin for the video! that was a great explanation which makes a lot of sence haha. and i totally got what you mean by the hands rather than it just being dull and going up and down the notes can have more of a wave that's not as dull! thanks man. and yeah i got the whole string skipping thing from andy james cause his licks are way crazy but awesome. i just don't get them tongue.gif

Just took a listen - I think you understood the idea quite well wink.gif Incorporate the technique into a wider context and diversify the phrasing with other techniques as well, giving everything a solid direction. Nice!! Keep experimenting mate - I am sure you can come up with memorable stuff!
