Hey mate! This was A LOT better - you are starting to get definition on the picking and you only played less clean around 0:30 for instance.

Watch out for the bends at 0:09 and the ones at the end - now you are bending too much - you are over the pitch smile.gif Please try to lower the bend just a little bit, ok?

Keep rocking, man!

Hi,I could not control myself and recorded.
It is a very nice song.
I am so far from my best performance but I am going to)))

After I finished recording I realized a timing of the last part of the solo.

Whoa! Nice video man! biggrin.gif I think you nailed everything - well, the solo still needs cleaning up, as you rushed through the picking parts a bit and that bend at the end was over the pitch. I should've recorded the official play through today, but I am not feeling confident yet and I postponed it with a week, for next Sunday.. I want to make a good job out of this recording so, I need to be as well prepared as possible.

I noticed you are playing some chords a little different than I do, but they sound better so, thank you for the inspiration! biggrin.gif I'll post my version of the solo this evening hopefully - sorry for taking so long, but I wanted to have it as nicely played as possible smile.gif

Hi.
I will try to correct some mistakes to next Sunday.
I saw where Mark Tremonti plays solo a little different in one part.
I tried to play in the same way it allows me to play more clear.
I will be waiting next Sunday .)))

Hehe!

You know, I came to the conclusion that it's virtually impossible to play something in the EXACT way that someone else plays it smile.gif I realized this while learning Pantera songs. Each guitarist has a strong personality, which once imbued into a song, it makes that song sound exactly like him and usually we will have pretty much a hard time getting there, simply because we are us and he is him smile.gif

Even though you can play that solo note for note, it'll still sound like you not like him and that goes for me as well. So in my opinion, you should aim to respect the technical aspects and play it as expressive as possible, without aiming to sound exactly like him smile.gif It may seem a bit difficult at first, but with time you will get there wink.gif What do you think?

Glad to hear that! Even if it may feel early, you need to learn how to see your personality as a player and slowly take it out into the light smile.gif Let's see, what is it about guitar playing that you really like? In terms of technique, sounds and style? Write them all down with bullets biggrin.gif

Well, I will try.

I like a sound like Breaking Benjamin, Skillet and Bullet for my Valentine with power riffs.

You make me love things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5tEnUCSkuY...oA&index=18
I would like to learn this thing. Very beautiful, very much.
Very much!!! When the guitar opens a really voice.
It is very power.
It came after your lesson "the voice".
When I heard this lesson the first time it was very very impressive.
It can not be explained.

and like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loNwD6G7HK0...XRujojQG9DLe-oA
It's very nice when power riffs сcombine with melodic solo.
I can't explain that is way I sent you examples.

So, putting it in a few words:

- powerful riffs
- catchy melodies
- soulful lead playing

Am I getting close with the resume? biggrin.gif Well, thank you for your nice words man, but your enthusiasm motivates me as well smile.gif So thank you!

I am asking you these questions because I want to be able to keep a good focus on what we are doing so that I may help you walk the path you chose smile.gif

Which technique do you feel like you would like to develop most?

That's great!

It's difficult to say what is the first.
May be we wll try to focus on the soulful lead playing.
I am not sure that I know what it means exactly.
But I think soulful playing lies very very deep in me.
And this can be very difficult to make me express it.)

That sounds great, although that is the most difficult, because it is the embodiment of pure expression of the inner being.

When you say 'I love you!' to a person which you hold dear to yourself and you say it with all your heart - that is the way in which you express your feelings with words. You must learn how to say 'I love you!' with your guitar. Not necessarily in a million notes, but in a few that mean everything you want to say smile.gif

I got something for ya - the 90% speed version of the Alter Bridge solo: Attached File  AB_90_solo_good.mp3 ( 704.3K ) Number of downloads: 99

I tried to stay as accurate as possible with the articulation and playing, but I still have to work on it smile.gif Got two more days biggrin.gif

Let me know what you think wink.gif

Hi,Cosmin.

Thanks for your example, many things became more clear.
I am waiting the moment when we play it together)
I should find the idea about video: where and how I will record it.
You inspire me very much. But I need more time to play it that it could be like a good playing)

About expression.
I think I understand what are you talking about but I need to get rid of the my restraint.
I see that when I play alone it is better than I do it when somebody is looking at me.
It is a problem really.

Hey mate! I am glad my recording managed to help out smile.gif

There's no rush at all, ok? Take your time and when you are ready, we will do it!

Now, about performing in front of an audience - as long as you think they will judge you, you will feel strange and you won't be fully comfortable with performing. Self confidence comes with time and with 'throwing yourself into the wolf's den' as they say smile.gif Play for EVERYONE and in front of everyone as often as you can smile.gif It's the ONLY way in which you will surpass this feeling.

Have you played in front of someone so far and did they react well? Or? There must be a story to tell, so please share if you will smile.gif

Hi,Cosmin.

It is a big way for me to begin to play the guitar.
It was very difficult to come to the shop and choose a guitar.
Because in that time I did not know what kind of difference can be between guitars and what I beed to do.
But I was sure that I should buy better guitar. I think that to study on a good guitar and gear is much better, despite people in shops invite me to buy a cheep guitar.
And I bougth it once upon a time and sold it in a few time.

When I started to play the first sounds I felt very uncomfortable.
The first who heard my sounds was my wife.
And even for her I could not play.
I am very self-critical,somebody in me want that when I play it shoul be perfect.
And when I don't do so he scolds me very much.

And now my wife is the only who hear my playing, because I play at home.
She always supports me.
She says that she likes my playing and my growth.
All frends of mine are not ready to believe that I can play the guitar.
When they see my video they think that it is a fake.
Some friends of mine was inspired very much. Denis began to play too.

Well, after your instructions I will start to play for my wife more often.

Hey there man smile.gif Trust me, I know the exact feeling and I've been there wink.gif Time solves everything tho and as I said, the more you do it, the better you will become!

Now, if you want to build up confidence - your wife is definitely the one to help you out with that - she is your soul mate and partner in life, right?

I say - each two weeks, pick up a song she likes and learn it for her and then, treat her with a glass of wine and play the song for her, not only will it increase your self confidence when playing the guitar in front of someone, but it will also make her feel amazing smile.gif

What do you think?

Cosmin

Alright! So your wife has a musical background as well - very, very nice!

It's amazing to have someone who understands and as I said, I think she'll appreciate, especially if you take the time to arrange an acoustic version of a song she likes. Tell, have you used your voice to sing, until now?

Yeah it does - the first one and the most important is STARTING biggrin.gif

Well, what you need to know for starting out with this:

- singing will raise your hearing abilities sky high
- you will be able to express everything you hear in your head very easily and then transpose it on the guitar
- you will be able to entertain a crowd
- your musical horizons will expand greatly

The first step you need to take would be imitating notes smile.gif How to do that?

- play the C note on your guitar
- play and sing the C note and say it's name
- record yourself while doing this and then listen - are you accurate? Is the voice at the same pitch as the guitar?
- you can try this by singing into a microphone connected to a tuner - that one will tell you immediately if you are over or under the pitch

Try this and let me know how it feels, ok? biggrin.gif
