i would start a similar band but with more metal and an occult theme.

I'd say either Power Metal or Stoner Rock. There's practically none of those kinds of bands in Illinois, except maybe in Chicago. It's mostly Death and Thrash Metal, Blues, or Classic Rock Cover bands lol
