http://www.peaceville.com/darkthrone/foad/ - check out one of their new songs there (the song start automaticly).

Darkthrone is f***ing amazing, just completely insane. I dont get how they manage to stay fresh, old school and really unique, time after time after time. Soon 13 god damn albums, and imo there is not ONE SINGLE BAD one. This sound so god damn great. They are one of the very FEW BANDS that keep it real. And no, I'm NOT one of those idiots that have to keep everything "true!!!". But man darkthrone keep it real. Old school god damn rock'n'roll, as blackmetal is supposed to be. Nasty and unpolished. These guys are only in their mid 30's, I just hope they rock untill they are atleast 60. Probably gonna be twice as many albums, atleast I hope so.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEIR NEXT ALBUM!!!

Edit: This song is from their EP, not 100% that its on the album itself. Dunno really, just guessing.
Oh and sorry for the "F" word in the topic, but thats the album title, so... tongue.gif

I don't think we should be dropping F bombs in our subject lines on the GMC forum. It might run off some of Kris's customers. Of course it might help him get more….

agreed. i'm 100 percent against censorship of all sorts and kinds. i understand that kids may be on this site; but honestly, if you're learning how to play rock guitar, you're going to end up experiencing all the good and bad of it from the bands you end up listening to. cursing, drug use, sex blah blah blah. i don't see the point in trying to protect people from seeing things that crazy conservatives say rock (and thus fans of rock, us) causes.

and, yeah, everyone curses on the internet anyway.

Hey Robin - I just fixed that for you. I understand what you were trying to do, it was the album title so I didn't jump on it right away smile.gif

In general, to the other posters, just because there is bad language elsewhere in the internet, doesn't mean its ok here. Censorship is bad. So is offending people. The usual argument of "they don't have to look" does not apply here - people pay to access this forum.

We try and strike a balance ...

And to Kahall's comment - good point ! Every time someone posts to this topic, it gets bumped to the front page of GMC!

Thank you. I totally agree that we should censor extremely bad words. But as I said, I was unsure about it since it was the album titles name. As you can see I censor my own bad words when I post, like in this one for instance. When I describe something I feel strong about, I use strong words.

Well anyway, thank you very much, and what about some comments on the band instead now people?

Not my genre, but well played and recorded. So this is Black Metal right? How does that differ from Death metal (Pardon my ignorance!)

Its not as "heavy", its not that many different rythms usually, the vocals are more screaming than the death metal vocals. Death metal vocals sounds like a bear biggrin.gif

http://youtube.com/watch?v=SBwu83RR6ZU This is a classic Darkthrone song from one of their absolute best albums. Pure black metal.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=fTpQOZcNASw and this is death metal. Cannibal corpse.

That should make you see some difference beetween those two genres biggrin.gif

Haha biggrin.gif well not in my eyes. I look at blues and black metal the same way. None of the genres are exeggarated in any way, like for instance, having mega totally super fat distorted guitars, not polished and boring mix, but an old school sound wich makes the music get feeling and its pretty simple actually, not changing drum rythms and riffs every 5 sec(Mastodon wacko.gif ) nor playing as fast as they can.

Hmm and about jazz I dunno. The real old stuff is also alot like blues or black metal, in my eyes atleast. The sound is not polished, stuff is not exaggerated and the sound is real, and not like most pop/metal nowdays the sound is so polished and boring that it doesnt even sound like people playing instruments, more like computers.

I know most people will disagree, but you get my point? smile.gif

Edit: also thats why I love Darkthrone. The song in the link in my first post is from 2007, their newest album, but still the sound is freakin rock'n'roll!

See what happens Kris, Andrew, when this sort of thing starts. First time i have seen anyone on this forum do that, push a political ideology on us.

edit: i realize we have move,d on here, Robin has apologized for violating forum guidelines, and we are discussing music, and I don't mean to dwell. But I just wanted to make the point, observing the above.
