Hi There!, I have been invited to GuitarMasterClass for participation and learning and I hope to learn lots of new stuff about everything. I have been playing guitar for 20+ years, played in many bands, own a recording studio and I am a gear hound. I play all styles to some degree but I was an 80`s kid and you know what that means.

Metal, Hardcore Punk, and I have always liked classic rock blues and jazz.

A guy can never know it all, so much to all this, I hope there is something I can offer with my own experiences.

Right now my rig is a 1974 Marshall and a Les Paul with various pedals.

Thank you for having me and I look forward to meeting you!

Cheers, BAF

Wow guys, thank you for the warm welcome and Bogdan thank you for the formal invite.

I have not had a ton of time to browse the site yet, nor sit down and woodshed on some of the lessons, but from what I see the skill level is quite high with some very experienced and trained players. This is good, this is how I got good playing guitar, by playing and hanging out with guitar players that know more than me.

I like the mix of info here and I like that it is very learning and playing influenced with focus on music and not just gear.

About the gear, It is my experience that whatever takes a player to that place of creation and tonal excellence is good, whether that be Solid state, Modeling, Acoustic, Tube amps or playing through an amp sim on your Iphone. It`s all good in my book.

I use amp modeling in logic pro and pro tools, Tube amps live. Sometimes just pre amps into the board and I I have a variety of tube amp Marshalls and one soild state marshall as well. None of this gear does it all, It took me years to learn about application.

I spent years thinking that one amp was supposed to do it all, and sold them later realizing that the guitar or amp in question could never do it all, my set up with my current band is way different than other bands I`ve played in. My satisfaction has gotten better with my sound when I started looking at gear at a "What am I doing? and what do I want on THIS project alone sort of way."

I am currently playing in a rock and roll punk/psyc garage band with some old musician friends, it is very learn the cover and do it our own way and improvisational, I needed a break from speed metal and I was looking for a change and broadening my outlook. This band is nothing but fun for me and we are playing gigs that people dance to and enjoy. I am still writing and recording heavy doom thrash in the studio.

Interesting thoughts mate. I agree with you about getting the best of each world. I'm using tube amp for playing live and amp modellers for recording guitar lesson, demos and composing. I have used modellers for some albums too, and I even used my old Marshall Valvestate in some songs from Cirse's first album.

Very cool, I just wanted to talk about my general feelings on gear in my introduction. I have been accused of being a corksniffer before, Not true at all.

Question???? What do you guys use for connecting live via internet for jamming and stuff, I would be willing to do that If I had time, I would have liked to learn more on the Lydian scale, I use mixo all the time, lydian not so much.

I use a new Macbook pro and I could set up some amps and effects in my studio, I guess I never thought of jammin in the virtual world before. I have a fairly high connection speed 60 to 100 mbps it could work out, anyway it sounds fun.

To improve your skills, it's best to hang around those who have more experience. I'm sure there is a better quote for that but I'm sure you get what I mean. Being a part of GMC is like being invited to the coolest jam session or backstage pass around!
