I'm a huge fan of RK, and when I heard about this project featuring him, Billy Sheehan and Mike Portnoy, I was SUPER excited!

I've had my copy of the album for a week or two now, and sat down and wrote a review which I would like to share with you guys.

Check it out here: http://sixstringsamurai.co.nz/2013/06/02/t...album-reviewed/

I think I can say that Richie is that sort of artist that has awesome chops AND great tunes. He has strong blues based roots and that can be seen in the flavor of all his songs! I will read the review right now wink.gif

For sure! He's one of my greatest inspirations as a musician, although sadly I haven't really been able to sit down and deconstruct his licks - I would love to see a Richie Kotzen lesson here on GMC!

Well, guess what biggrin.gif Here's a little surprise for ya:

You can start out with these - if they feel like they are difficult, just give them some time or simply use them to understand the mechanics behind the licks, practice them at a slow tempo and you will definitely have a lot to benefit!

Hmmmm.... no offense to Mate, he's obviously a great player, but it has been quite a long time since Richie's style has sounded like that. There is just so much of a richer blues and jazz/fusion influence in his playing these days, that's kinda what I would like to learn!

And it seems like the Wylde influence is stronger there, hehe.

Mate published that lesson a long time ago and it's a personal vision on the style wink.gif It encompasses Kotzen elements none the less, right?
