I hadn't considered that smile.gif At warp speed I guess the friction could melt the bones in my hand smile.gif Seriously though, they stay pretty mild temp wise as they are aluminum. Surprisingly light as well smile.gif

Todd are you finding it heats up and burns you when you play at speed? tongue.gif

Von They look really cool.

Now that would looks pretty darn spiff!!!! smile.gif I"d asked about custom carving as well. I gotta say it would be hard not to put it on a chain around ones neck and wear it as jewelry!!! Hmm..

VONHOTCH: Put one with a hole in it on a chain and call it a necklace!!!

P.S. In the interest of helping out our GMC brother VONHOTCH as he starts making all these spiff picks and such. I thought it might be cool to pitch in and see if we could give him a hand with graphics/marketing/social media tips etc. smile.gif I've got one to start with!!

FACEBOOK: The new facebook banner size is a bit wonky. But if you know what it is ahead of time, you can make better banners. Here is a quick graphic to tell you how big to make your profile icon and your banner.

Here is the banner sized. You can use this as a template in photoshop or what not.

Here is the profile icon size template.

I don't do a ton of still image graphics (I,m an after effects guy, but what the hey smile.gif I thought I'd work up some mockups of facebook banners to get the ball rolling.

Here is the PHOTOSHOP source file as well. If you don't have photoshop, you can download a fully functioning 30 day demo from adobe.com

This is great! I really appreciate all the support.

And if anybody has and comments or questions I would love to hear. I've had some great suggestions so far. What are some of the things you guys look for when selecting a pick. What do you find most important? Or is it just the first one closest. laugh.gif I didn't used to care too much what it was made from, but more of the thickness was the first thing I looked at, then probably size.

Good question smile.gif I usually start with

1.)Thickness (around 1.5 mm)
2.)Overall Size (about the size of a clayton standard or vpick switchblade)
3.)Material (some sound better)
4.)POINTY!!! (Gotta be beveled on both sides to a fine point)
5.)Grip (Gotta not fall out of grip easily)

So far not too many picks make the grade for me, so far only one other than the VON HOTCH comes from the vendor the way I like em. (E.G. my custom switchblade) These picks from VON HOTCH are a rare find. The best thing about them for me, other than killer tone, is that you can't wear down the point!!! I usually have to resharpen my picks. Not anymore smile.gif

Todd

I fell in love with the Jim Dunlop John Petrucci Jazz III picks and those are pretty much close to Todd's specs - out of what I an figure so far.

Good info, cool to see the order of priorties. I think I feel about the same as this. I used to not care too much about material, but now that I found something that I like, that has changed a bit. biggrin.gif

It's true, something for everybody. Hard not to be able to find just the right thing anymore. Plastic, wood, stone, metal. The only thing I havn't seen I think is an ice pick...........Oh wait.... laugh.gif

Yea I think it's pretty close. Todd's are even a bit more pointy, but I started by basing them off a regular Jazz III (not exactly!!!) because that's what I was using and liked. And I think the Petrucci is a little longer and sharper?

This is a new pick I made other day. It has some filing on the edge for decoration, kind of like a custom knife. It's a bit fancy but I thought it might be kind of cool.

Also I wanted to let everybody know that I finally got some picks listed on my website. And since GMC has been so awesome I wanted to offer anybody who might want to try them a 15% coupon. Just use "gmc15". The website is www.vonhotch.wix.com/vonhotch . I appreciate all the support and comments, and also if anybody wants you can like my page on facebook, help me spread the word.

This is the actual link to the page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Von-Hotch/134087556793864

Thanks again, everyone!!!

I agree, I put it on my site called "Goliath", but I think "The Shuriken" is much cooler, I think I am gonna change it.

These would make some hard core picks! You might end up with a pick that looks like one of these. Just for fun, and because I can!
