I have 2 of them and I haven't yet managed to 'consume' them yet smile.gif My favorite is the 7075 alloy and the black paint which is a bit more abrasive so it doesn't slip biggrin.gif

Hey, those look familiar. Glad they made it. What do you think so far?

Look what arrived today!

Should be there soon. If it doesn't arrive for some reason, please let me know!

Nice, Mine should be here soon, I can't wait to put it through it 's paces.

The 7075 seems to be by far more popular. I think it is better both as a pick and to work with. I am leaning towards only 7075 and moving away from the 2024. Also made my first acrylic pick the other day and seems to be a hit so far.

Well, we know that black abrasive paint and 7075 go well together smile.gif I am still thinking of an idea in respect to the carving on the pick..

I have experimented a little with electro-chemical etching. Similar to how a circuit board is etched. The results were promising, but that is as far as I got. It should allow me to put simple designs onto them, like band logo's or simple pictures or names. Looking into getting some more supplies to pursue it more.

I have received my Von Hotch Pic!

As I said before my go to pick is the V-Pick Stiletto, I told Von Hotch what sort of thing I liked etc and he was already working on a pick for himself that fitted my needs too.

So as you can see he nailed the size, it's a perfect size. It looks fantastic the drilled out grip holes as perfectly placed and shine like diamonds (as Rhianna might say) The quality of the pick in it's finish is flawless, I am seriously impressed, the powder coating is really hard wearing.

Now for the important bit the sound and playablilty

The pick is locked in place when you hold it thanks to the grip holes, the v-pick does feel secure but this takes it a stage further!

Sound wise there is a little more treble than the V-pick, it's more apparent with clean sounds, with overdriven sounds it comes across as a little more bite.

It's a quick pick and glides over the strings well. Where people have said the v-picks produce a chirp sound, this pick doesn't but can give you a slight scratchy sound on the wound strings but that isn't heard in the amplified sound, changing picking angle can reduce this too.

So my initial impression is that in looks it wins hands down against the Stiletto and is at least it's equal in playability and sound and that is no faint praise, because I dearly love the Stiletto.

A huge thanks to Von Hotch for sending me this. Now about the pink powder coating?!

These picks are honestly amazing. I've still got all of my Vpick Signature Picks that Vinni made for me and I do use them sometimes but when I go back to the Vonhotch it's just night and day in terms of tone/easy of play etc. The VONHOTCH OCTAVIOUS that von made me has a unique rounded curved edge that makes string traversing a breeze.

It's a very unique design and makes playing easier. Also the vpicks did "chirp" a bit, just part of their tonal character. The Von picks don't chirp and seem more precise, more planted in the hand, easier to traverse strings, etc.

In short, it's the best pick I've ever touched bar non and I"ve tried more picks than I can count.

Great write up on the benefits and welcome to the VONHOTCH club!!

Todd

Yes, this would be great, and would be great to put any design and finally my name on some of them. My initial cob job of a test was very promising so with the right stuff should work well. I have been going in so many directions, it got put on the back burner for a bit, but soon I should be ready to try more. Who knew it would be so much work to start a business. laugh.gif

I had also looked into a laser engraver but even the cheapest one I could find (about $600) was hard to justify the price at this point.

Ay man - trust me, I know that struggle very well smile.gif

But I also know that each investment should come at a proper time, so don't worry, I'm sure that you will find a solution for the engraving and I will be around to get those beautiful, great playing picks biggrin.gif

Any metal can oxidize (rust) given the right conditions.

Those pickup covers look AWESOME.

Also, stay tuned GMC, next week my website Six-String Samurai is doing a giveaway with Von Hotch, featuring a few of the Premium Line as well as Signature Series picks from our very own Gabriel and Todd!

I love the way the one on the right looks. Recently I have been trying to get a good textured feel in my picks of choice. I have tried many picks, but I have to always go back to these...

I've tried roughing one up a little, but seeing those holes in the pick above - I think that may be the perfect pairing of what I'm looking for.
