Hi there!

Today just saw a post about another guitar that had been broken while traveling by plane.

http://www.truthinshredding.com/2013/07/ne...ontent=FaceBook

Soon after I've reminded myself about famous "United Breaks Guitars"...guy won the case ...made something like 2 of songs about United...and the 3rd was that they finally gave him the money back but....what means money instead of a guitar which is a part of You for many years?

Did You have any similar situation?

Yeah, makes me cringe every time I have to travel and check my guitar. Even a top-level flight case won't save your guitar with stuff like this going on!

I only travelled once by plane with a guitar, and nothing bad happened. It was my old Ibanez that I bought in USA in 1999.

Hehehe that United Breaks Guitars video is awesome - guy got famous because of this accident with his guitar so it didn't turn so bad for him smile.gif

I think you can never be 100% safe, but one should invest into quality flight case and hope for the best. I would suppose that these "broken guitars" cases are a small percentage of overall "guitars travel". There will always be such cases with accidents. That guitar in truthinshredding post looks like something run over it (maybe a tank smile.gif ).

I've never had this issue, a simple reason is - my guitar going with me, in a gig bag. If there is no room in the trunk above, the cabin staff has special places where you can put them out, usually at the entrance to the plane, on the left, a wardrobe perfect for guitars wink.gif .
