I first have to like the body style. Then I sit down and see how it feels. I have to like the sound as well.

1. Looks
2. Color 3. Feeling 4. Price After that I can typically work around it. Crappy pickups and wood, I just EQ around it. Proven with my Ibanez S, stock pickups suck. Years later, still stock, still sucks.  -------------------- Guitars:

If I like how it looks, I try it and check if I like how it feels and sounds. If it passes these 3 exams and I can pay it, my decision is done. It is simple for me. I don't care too much about type of woods and those things.

I always check the wood that's used.
Body (My favorites): Mahogany, with a maple top. Mahogany with a redwood top, all mahogany or korina. Neck (My favorites): Mahogany with Ebony fretboard and Mahogany with Rosewood fretboard (in different variations). Body shape is also important to me. I don't want no pointy piece of crap that looks like it's straight out of a bad horrormovie from the 80's. With that in mind, you should now know that the BC Rich guitars doesn't work for me  I love the Les Paul and Tele shape, and variations of those. If it has a tremolo, in any shape or form, I run away from the crime scene as fast as my legs can carry me. I never look back, or I would have nightmares about it. It doesn't matter which tremolo system, I loathe them all. Fixed bridge in various forms works for me  Color: Very important. Who in their right mind would buy a guitar that sports a color they don't like? Feel: You need to test out the different neck shapes and find the ones that work for you. I did, and there's a few that are on the top of my list. Others I can't even wrap my small girlish hands around Height/Action etc. can be fixed, so no worries there. If it's off, they'll fix it before I leave the store (or I caome back and collect it when done). If it's way off, and your fingers get scared of heights while playing maybe you should try another one... Humbuckers! I like humbuckers, big, fat and covered humbuckers with an attitude. I like some single coils and P90 as well, but they just don't look as good as a humbucker. I'm no big fan of uncovered (open coil) humbuckers either, looks silly if you ask me. Weight of the guitar is very important for me. Some of my friends own Les Pauls and to be honest I would want that on my shoulder if I did a 2 hour show.
