Hi enlo22,

I think in general the tone is nice, but a little muddy. You say you're working on the 'tone thing'. Could you possibly be more specific? What kind of tone are you trying to achieve. I think if we have that info, it will be easier for us to help you.

Indeed smile.gif tell us more so we could have a term of comparison - If you want my opinion in terms of the riff tone - it could use a little bit more definition... I just refused a very interesting offer of buying a Peavy 6505 head for about 700 bucks... I had other things that I needed the money for, so I said 'let it pass'. Out of sheer curiosity, how much did yours cost?

Well done smile.gif The piece works but it could use a tone tweak but that's a perpetual search so don't let it throw you. The guitar tone is perhaps a bit heavy in the upper mid range of frequencies. It could use maybe a bit of a scoop (cut the mids) and let in a little more sparkle (treble

How are you recording? Direct out from amp? If so, you are not getting any speaker color from your cab and can't adjust the microphone to change the sound. You'll have to make any adjustments during mix with eq etc.

It's a good starting point but I would sccop some harsh high midrande in the drums. Very often we have problems to fit our guitar tone to the mix because all other instrumens have too much middle. If You listen to some professional metal productions You will hear how much the middle is scooped from the mix. This gives more headroom for guitars to be clean and not muddy in the mix smile.gif Take a close look at 1 kHz to 4 kHZ in the drums tracks

Ah ok! How close to the cabinet did you position it and in what part of the speaker?

I can only suggest You take own experiments with the eq. It's very often a second side of the problem when it's not that something is missing in the guitar tone, but the other instrument has a bit too much of some range. Middle is the worst thing to mix always...because in this range speakers have most differences. Also...too much of high middle makes recordings bad to listen with higher volumes - it's getting anoying.
