Hey guys,

I purchased an amp simulator called Headcase about a week ago. It's by a company called AcmeBarGig, which you may have already heard of, for their free amps. This one isn't free, but it's only $60, and I think that's an amazing price. It's got a bunch of amps, stompboxes, and a crazy post FX section!

There's a lot of tonal versatility here, and while this may not have as many effects as Amplitube or TH2, it's still a great package of effects. Just wanted to add a little quote from Ken, from AcmeBarGig, because I thought they were great words.

QUOTE
The whole premise of a suite that contains everything was born out of commercialism by the big guys, it was not because they were trying to make the best effects, they only added that in the first place to sell more software.

So, lets do what we always do here and march to our own drum and get rid of the whole "suite" mentality. I would love to see people recording modular and not even using a suite. Add the effects you need and thats all. Add bootsy's compressor, and someone else's delay, and still someone else's tube screamer to create your own chain..

And finally...

One of the key features of Headcase is that you can build your own amps! It's pretty cool. Here's something special I've been working on... biggrin.gif

Go and try it out! I really like it, and I think you will too tongue.gif

No worries! I really like it, the quality is great.

I've discovered that if you pop this free VST after Headcase (or any amp sim), it will really thicken up the sound. I've found it really good for especially high gain rhythm stuff. smile.gif

Todd, did you get the message I sent you a while back by any chance? What did you think?

Sounds very promissing smile.gif I stick to LePou but it's not that I don't like other stuff. Just feel like it's ok for me and it does the job smile.gif

Yes Darius, I really like LePou's amp sims too, as well as Ignite Amps plugins. The great thing about this software, Headcase, is that the plugins are offered in a bunch of variants, for example just the head, just the cab, or just the effects. This means that you could, for example, load LePou's Le456 and use it with Headcase's cabinet simulation. I think that if people stop using 'suites' exclusively, and use VST effects in a modular environment, it really opens up so many sonic possibilities smile.gif

That looks awesome... but a bit over my head with the level of customization available, heh.

I think there are VST to AU wrappers somewhere on the internet. I know FXpansion makes one, but I'm sure there's something that's free out there...
