Seems like I'm seeing more and more drama/trash about bands using fake guitar cabinets on stage. I must admit, at first brush it does smack of "POSEUR!" but cabs are heavy and expensive to transport and you only mic up one cab typically so paying to tote half a ton of unused gear does seem silly.

To wit, bands have been using one loaded cab and wands of dummy cabs. Here is a pick of BLACK VEIL BRIDES using 4 DUMMY CABS with not a real cab in the mix at all since they run direct now with axe effects. The cabs are just like their makeup. An affectation.

Black Veil Brides... That name already screams "Poser" itself laugh.gif

I think that Metallica Used this fake cabinets on stage too... They played thru Mesa Boogie Mark IIc i think, but on stage there were DIESEL amps! Marketing trick...

Weird idea...who needs to be convinced of the use of more cabs? If the musics good who give a $%%&.. It would be worse if your favourite guitarist came on stage and played Air Guitar. laugh.gif

years ago I once 'roadied' for status quo and they had the same. I slagged them off for ages afterwards about it to anyone who would listen ...... then I found out that most ( if not ALL ) of my favourite bands done the same thing rolleyes.gif

I think Rush have the best approach with just having washing machines and crazy stuff like that instead of pretend amps.

And now for some news.
Maybe they don't just use 4 dummy cabs, but also faking the AxeFX running all guitars directly through zoom 505? biggrin.gif

Saw this pic a while back and I said then that it was no big deal. It's been happening for decades. The only possible benefit for having multiple cabs on stage like that has only ever been visual, nothing more.

Other 'wall of amps' stage setups of note would be Yngwie Malmsteen in the late 80's and Slayer. But let's face it - a wall of Marshalls looks amazing smile.gif

Very True smile.gif A wall of Marshalls is a beautiful thing. Yngwie actually hooks several up I hear so his stage volume can get a bit nuts but hey it's rock and roll smile.gif I'm personally not offended by the fake cabs, or by the fake hair colors, or by the sometimes fake tattoos. It's just theatre after all smile.gif But I was far more judgemental when I was first learning to play, even though I was a complete noob. Silly eh smile.gif

I think that if you are going to have something back there, it should be something that actually benefits the band and the entire organizations.

For instance, Chicken Rotisseries...

Or, it's the perfect time to do everyone's laundry, with vending machines...
