Its my Son Rory's sixth birthday next week and he's getting one of these 3/4 size guitars..Haven't tried it...ordered from internet...hopefully it'll be good for him to learn on. I have never owned a Peavey guitar so I don't know what to expect. Whatever...it will be better than the 3rd time handed down very very broken, impossible to tune, half size(or smaller) spanish/classical guitar that he has already! laugh.gif Does anyone have kids with one of these or had one themselves?

I think the prices range depending where in the world you are...Its not a lot for a guitar...about 100-130 USD probably. smile.gif

I hope it won't be a fail tongue.gif I used some veeery cheap harley benton 1/2 or 3/4 (I thought it was 3/4 but then I rechecked and it probably was 1/2 though). The trick is...they could work well when You tune it up a4th or even 5th higher than regular tuning. Short measure make regular strings much too floppy and from the other hand putting 13's have no sense - no way it's gonna tune well on frets.

Here's that guitar:

From what I read on reviews, you'll need to get a set up done by a tech/luthier, then it'll stay in tune and play almost exactly like a regular guitar smile.gif I saw it for a 100 bucks, and for a 100 bucks, that guitar is worth it, just throw in $20 to $30 for a complete setup, and the guitar would play fine.

Beginner guitars are made like this I suppose, they work well for 2 years max (at least my first guitar didn't go beyond that) and then the guitarist grows out of them, s/he knows what to look for and what features are the the most important for him/her smile.gif

Very interesting guitar! I never saw these smaller guitars in stores.
I have experience with Peavey bass guitars and also regular guitars. They make fine instruments, especially in the lower price range where the bang for the buck factor is amazing.

Awesome gift for your son! biggrin.gif

Yeah hopefully it will last him a few years..I know he's too small for a full size guitar...so 3/4 lottery it is!! I need to find a good luthierGuitar/tech for this and for my two electric guitars....which both need it as well. smile.gif

Thanks Bogdan...I heard Peavey are good guitars...hopefully I'll get ' bang for buck factor' with this!! He doesn't know any chords or anything yet...he just seems to be good at the rhythm end on his right hand were he can reach!!...His left fretting hand tends to float around the body end of the neck muting and un muting!! laugh.gif

Haha thanks Gab!! laugh.gif The truth is, my parents sent the money over from England for us to buy him something...he's been annoyed with his broken Spanish guitar for some time and insists its an electric guitar that he wants and not an acoustic. We will actually be buying him something else...a remote control car thing...(an off roader...so we can have some fun together in the mud!)....The plan is with having a boy,(I already have a daughter with girly stuff)...for their birthdays...you buy them stuff that you want to play with as well!!! laugh.gif
