Been trying to set up a few things to get ready to record some videos when I get more involved here again, but it seems my living room is not pleased about it! I've been trying to place sheets from the ceiling for a more clear background. It's resulted in a few holes from hooks in my ceiling now... think I finally got it right, but I've now got 5 small holes hanging around. And the sheets don't reach the floor! Have to make some straps then to have them further from the ceiling.

I get that done, fine, that's out of the way... then I knock over a can of coca cola to my carpet. Great... clear that up. Now to get the camera. Where is it? I don't know!

...found it!

I try and place the camera, realize the sheets are not working and the light is annoying. Move them around again. 5 new holes.

Now I need to find the tripod for my camera in this new position. Great... that's in the attic. I go get it, I place the camera. It's out of battery... charging it! Alright, there we go! Ready to do a test video.

What's that? It only recorded for 2 seconds? There's no space left on the micro card? Oh, great. Better move the pictures and videos to the computer then...

...finally done!

People downstairs knock on their radiator, which is code for me probably having been too noisy running around like a mad man to get things working. And I've not even played a note yet!

I was 24 when this started out, and I think I'm about 83 now. mad.gif

I give up for today! laugh.gif

laugh.gif Funny post!
Knock on the radiator is better than my neighbour. He knocked a hole in our wall with a sledge hammer...and I wasn't even playing the guitar! laugh.gif

Hahahhah these things happen all the time to everyone it seems! laugh.gif
What I do in such situations is embrace the bad luck and keep pushing to see who wins smile.gif

Try it out tomorrow - hopefully you'll ran out of things that could go wrong.

This story also reminds me how much I like simplicity in recording setup. I really hate connecting all the cables and running around, all that before even touching the instrument. Nowadays I have my setup very simple - I record bass via direct box pedal directly into my interface.

Yeah, I know. I just ended up getting a bit frustrated but still laughed. I will be back tomorrow, no doubt.

And indeed. I'm keeping things fairly simple hear as well, just needed to get things set up. They should be alright now though smile.gif

I'm not sure who invented it, but yeah, it will be no problem fixing it. I'm just glad I didn't start to fix it straight away. Will do so one day when I feel like it laugh.gif

I so agree with Bogdan - I hate cables and the whole suite of preparations that have to be taken care of, before doing something tongue.gif For that II use.... THE LIST!

THE LIST - is a sheet of paper, that has bullets with everything that needs to be done, in order to keep a continuous workflow, regardless of the nature of that particular activity. Learn to use lists and your life will be FAR easier wink.gif less time spent and your brain will not feel like it's being fried after 20 minutes!

hahaha be sure that similar things happens to me every time I film new lessons! there are a lot of things to have in mind when you have to record audio and video and when you want to make it look and sound professional so try to relax an if it's not the day, continue the following day. Don't feel bad about it, it's normal.

No problem. I thought I wouldn't be too busy today, but then it turned out I had a meeting, then football practice and only now got around to making dinner. Perhaps I'll get to play a little tonight laugh.gif

I'm sure it happens to everyone. I don't feel unhappy about those things though. I've learned to laugh at them instead, but in the moment when you just want to play and get going it can become a bit frustrating.

This is one of the best things one can do to face an arising problem smile.gif If we all could be as strong and relaxed in those moments so that we may face problems with a smile, this world would be a better place for certain!

Great. It was getting a bit late and as I said in one of my many previous PMs (SORRY! Hope you've seen/read them though, they're not that long, I'm just forgetful!), I decided to just play over a backing track and try to bring in as many techniques as I could to give the best picture.

I understand when people get frustrated, annoyed, sad or mad though. We've all been there, but at some point you realize there's no point in being mad if nothing good will come from it.

Adding to things I just sat down to practice. Started doing warm ups, 2 minutes in my friend calls me on the phone and speaks for 15 minutes. Alright, back to playing guitar... 2 minutes later my mom calls me and speaks for 15 minutes. Now I'm not even in the mood for playing guitar anymore! laugh.gif

I totally understand smile.gif But you need to do one thing when practicing - leave your phone on silent somewhere it won't bother you wink.gif Trust me, it's really going to work. Last evening, I sat in silence and managed to learn Pantera's '5 minutes alone' in approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes..
