Been jamming along to this Pink Floyd/David Gilmour-ish track today and thought: "Why not make a jam with other GMC'ers?", but of course I need to know if anyone is interested first.

My thinking was that I'd find some backing tracks that are neatly split up in parts, so each gets to play for a certain amount of bars and then the next one comes in. So for this specific track it would be like this:

1st: 00:00 -> 01:04
2nd: 01:04 -> 02:08
3rd: 02:08 -> 02:53
4th: 02:53 -> 03:57
5th: 03:57 -> 05:01
6th: 05:01 -> End

Just as any other collab, I'd ask for your solo with the backing track and unaccompanied as well and I'll mix them together at the end of the week.

Anyone is free to join at all levels, and just give it your best shot within the timeframe, which is quite short, but I feel a monthly jam is a bit too spread out.

I'll be trying to find free backing tracks on youtube, which we can use. There are all kinds of backing tracks. Or perhaps someone on the forum has made some themselves (I'm not quite there yet!) that they would want to share for this.

So, is anyone interested? (Instructors, you can join as well if you want!) Some topics could be bending, vibrato, making 2nd harmony guitar, fast picking runs, melodic slow playing, arpeggios and so on. Also input on timeframe would be nice! Weekly? Fortnight?

If there's interest I'll go ahead and set up a more official thread. smile.gif

Hey mate! I see that more and more GMC family is having great initiatives in the community! I think it's a great idea and both you and Sam and Patrick have started out on bringing people together in collabs and jams!

I officially encourage this so, why not add the deadlines and invite some folks wink.gif I also have a question - how will people use the backing track since it's only on video on Youtube? Shouldn't there be an available audio version as well?

I'll make sure to have an audio copy at the ready - this was just a thread to see if there's interest. And thanks for encouraging this smile.gif

If there's interest in this, I'll upload the backing track and make an introduction to the topic (pssst...David Gilmour backing track, so it'll be bending for this one! Half note, whole, one and a half note, double... etc... I wanna hear it all from you guys!)

Anyone else interested? If it's just the two of us, that's fine as well, Bahadir. Then we'll just get 3 spots each. I'll go ahead and set up the thread.

Maybe you guys could use GMC backing tracks for these jams?

Uploading downloadable audio file in the forum of someone elses track might not be possible due to copyright reasons.

Well, I assumed it would be no problem, since it's a free backing track by the author's words.

It is free on youtube/author's channel.

You should check with the author before offering it as download somewhere else (and in different format), to stay on the safe side.

Based on Bogdan's comments and to keep on topic here I share some GMC lessons that are very close in style to this one, maybe you can use any of these backing tracks:

I hope I'm not too late. I'm game too Cap'n Cael. I'm actually in the process of writing a jam track for a collab I intend to start here myself, it would be great to work on more of these student led collaborations.

So who's in and where? I'd like to join along.

Sometimes a good string change/gear organizing/exercise or even a change in listening material "something opposite the norm" can be good motivation.
