Cant we just filter the swear wordies or something? It'd make more sense than editing all the time anyway?

I agree here - "crap" is not a bad word, i don't think "shit" is a bad word either.

I mean this forum is a very polite and friendly place anyway so even if we allow those 2 words, nothing will happen!

I kinda agree with you guys, but at the same time i don't want any little kids who might be browsing this fourm getting in trouble for filling out a project for school and including the S word or Cr** word or anything else just because they read it here.. just my opinion. just because you are expressing some sort of emotion doesn't really require swearin, even if its not harsh swearin like the two mentioned words.

I think Andrew is perfectly justified. I use swear words just as much as anyone else, when I'm within the company of my own friends. However, when I'm online, certainly on this forum, I show people enough respect not to use language that would be even close to offensive. You may have your limits, someone elses may be a lot less than yours.

Would you talk to your guitar teacher in the same way as you worded that post? Or your grandparents? Well, why do you expect that I should read it? Show some respect for yourself, and for the other members of this site.

When Kris formed this site (as Freelicks, nearly 2 years ago) the idea was that it wouldn't turn into the same old story as other sites, where people would flame each other, and use bad language.

Andrew shouldn't have to censor your posts. You should be censoring them before you post it.

Thanks Tank well put, i still slightly agree with Pavel though everyone has a definition of swearing somepeople are used to more harshness than others.I see no problem with this site being "swearing" free just so it doesn't turn into every other site where the fourms run wild and theres nothing but chaos. I don't wanna be asking a question and get a "OMG EVERYONE KNOWS THAT U LAZY F*** GO PICKING UP YER F***ING BOOK AND LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR LESS S***LY YOU NOOB" responce... sry bout the rambling but its true, im sure we're all mature enough to keep these fourms clean by ourselves

Yeah well like, Its your job as moderator on any site to filter swear words. But I do think crap shouldnt be a part in that filtering. Now the F word is far different but I think some swear words are justified as long as your not using them against someone or in a cruel fashion.

I am totally against swearing but i think some of the words that are very often used on this forum - like "crap" and "damn" should be allowed!

The only thing i don't like on this forum are those HUGE and ENDLESS signatures which include 2345x1234 resolution pictures! biggrin.gif

I agree with Pavel, sigs should be little. If you put a picture, it should be small. The thing is, the first time you see it, well ok. But then over and over, it is annoying.

I mostly leave stuff alone - but that thread had post after post with bad language. I didn't filter "crap" anywhere - I was concentrating on s*** and b****** and will continue to do so unless Kris advises me otherwise. I'm just trying to keep this a pleasant place to hang out, as per Tanks post.

Believe me, as per the ttitle, I do have better things to do ...

Ok so this is quite a topic. Here is how I see the situation

We have found the most awesome moderator anyone could ask for: Andrew has an incredible amount of knowledge on almost every department guitar-wise. Not only that, he also seems to be one of the best persons I have ever enountered online.

He decides to step in, read every post of this forum - answer any question he gets thoroughly, welcome every newcomer - and yes he even decides to go in and filter bad words. We have an agreement for this and he has my full support for all moderator actions he takes.

Shredmandan - I would never dream of hanging out a user, but because of the nature of this post I will have to.

The gmc team has worked very hard for new content and features the last year - and this has finally resulted in a higher frequency of the updates - which this week has allowed us to use a new design on the start page. This new structure wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the hard work of the team and for the strong gmc-user support.

Imediately after the publishing of the new design you spamed/flamed Gabriels lesson with heavy critisism of the layout - using all your favorite words. Luckily this was removed buy Andrew - and you got a warning.

I get the impression that this is some kind of vengence? Well let me tell you the following - if you enjoy watching Pavel and Marcus' lessons and want more, then you have just committed a horrible crime to yourself.

If Andrew no longer would want to be here to watch the forum - expansion of the community and the site would no longer be stable. I am very happy to be able to invest my time in new instructors and features for the site. If you force me to spend my time removing bad words you can be sure I will loose interest - just like I have done once previously (which Tank touched upon).

Tank - very well put. If people want a place were they can practice insults and bad words I'd be happy to share some links. We don't want this here. This place is exclusively for guitar practicing and positive discussions without bad words - you have even signed a contract to this when creating a forum username.

From now on - we will enforce much lower toleration of bad words and missbehaviour. This an inevitable must as our community grows. I will leave it up to our moderaor Andrew to decide if Shredmandan gets to keep his forum access or not.

Kristofer

Kris I understand what your saying and I apoligize for even taking any part in this topic. Gmc is a friendly place and we need to keep it that way. And I take some of the blame of this one with my use of some bad words.

Im just interested how you find the time to play the guitar when your always on the go edited a b****** or a s*** word.

I'm, Go edited?

I noticed on eat jam and sleeps post you had edited about 20 people's posts.

Run on from singular to plural.

Edited mine because i used the cr** word?Seems like you have gotten a little carried away.Dont get me wrong the fu** word may be to intense but im afraid to say anything to anyone other than good jod man or sir thats the best playing ever .

Jod? Limited use of comma's. Since when were you afraid of spouting your opinion? You've just demonstrated the opposite, if just not in an intelligent fashion. Just looked at the above post actually, stop sucking up.

Sounds like were in a 3rd world country were we cant express are own opinions and your the dictator.

Are? "Our" surely.

This isnt wrote in hate just confusion so dont miss understand me.I just feel if someone didnt like my playing i wouldnt want to here great job sir i would want to here it straight up so i could fix the problem and learn from my mistakes but your stoping this from happening.

Stopping has two p's. Misunderstand is one word not two, we are after all referring to an emotion, not a woman. Sentences need to have a space at the start just after a full stop and before a new beginning.

I enjoy watching Marcus and Pavel lessons but if you dont want me here because i dont say everything as told thats fine.

Apostrophes were invented for a reason.

Ofcourse there has never been a place on this webpage to cancel your membership or details on wether or not you get any money back if you havent used the whole 3 months worth.Hope you understand where im coming from and if you dont i still stated my opinion and thats what the world is about.

"Of course" is two words, whether is spelled wrongly. Again, limited use of apostrophes, bad run-on's, poor spacing.

I think that consists of more than 12 mistakes a paragraph, now please stop digging yourself deeper and deeper into your own foolish mistakes.
