Brandon's recordings are starting to get to me and I'm tempted to tune one of my guitars down to D or C#

In Standard tuning I use 10's on my Burny (24.75 Scale)

So what would be a decent gauge for C#?

Uuuups...24 3/4" scale is hard to fit good gauges. I would go for 12-54 or 12-56 for a regular 25 1/2" but I had a 24,75" guitar for drop tunings myself and it was always making more problems with tuning stability during to the finger pressure on the frets. I was experimenting with gauges even to 13-72 but it worked perfect for dropped B with E6 dropped to A. in lighter gauges I always had problems with low strings being to much loosen

Hmmm - I use 12-68 on my baritone for B standard and drop A - but the scale is 27. I think Darius' suggestion is good - but mate, what sort of bridge do you have?

I think I'd try the 12-52 set from Elixir smile.gif Let's see how that goes!
