Hello Kerbs! This is our thread where we will define the guitar routines that should help you to be more organized and to become a better musician. I'm writing a PM right now with some details.
Welcome to Gab's Army!! Your message as our reference: "I think 1 to 1.5 hours is a realistic playing time each day. Some days I do not have the opportunity, but when I can, I do. Recently I have been working on the lessons, neoclassical etude #1, string skipping etude, Dave murray style, and classic black sabbath. Outside of lessons, I'm learning very basic and slow sweeps, and different tapping patterns. Difficulty style wise I look for lessons anywhere from 4-6 and learn them slow, usually learn the licks in the videos then download the guitarpro. I'll use that until I have it memorized. One of my current goals is to play the neoclassical etude #1 at full tempo, right now I can play it at 120 bpm but struggle at 1 or 2 parts. Recently I have been warming up/ playing with a metronome. Not that I wouldn't keep time, I would often listen to the beat in guitar pro. Another current goal is to play extremely clean, being able to properly keep strings muted that should stay quiet. Other future goals are to better understand the fretboard (learning notes, caged, and 3 string), and hybrid picking. I recently aquired a hellraiser with a nice floyd, so whammy techniques are another goal. I love playing metal and rock most, and classical as well. For example, I love playing hourglass and laid to rest by Lamb of God. I can play both at full speed, except the later half of laid to rest, just haven't gotten there yet. The issue is I can be sloppy, so I know I have to slow it down and clean it up. I hope that information helps, I'm not sure how much your individualized lessons are copypaste, or profiled, but this should give you an idea of where I'm at. One more thing, I started playing guitar 7 years ago (around guitar hero 3?), found gmc and played for about 8 months, not seriously. I have played on and off since then, but recently I decided I would like to get serious about playing guitar with high skill. I tried local lessons, but the weekly deadlines just took the fun out of it for me, and I prefer teaching myself in this hobby I have. Also, Your rocker riff 2 lesson was my favorite when I started. I'm just now almost able to play it clean at full tempo. That bending lick is kinda tricky. Thanks for your help and your lessons!" Hi mate, based on the quantity of time that you can practice each day, I was thinking that a plan like the following one could work for you. Giving more priority to one technique each day. Please check it out and tell me what you think.
Then we can choose lessons for each topic. Hi Kerbs, this sounds great for me. Please post here your suggested lessons so we can start filling the routine with those and also with my suggestions. This routine is not something that must be strict but it's good to have them as a guide to be sure that you are using your time wisely.

I really like the solo lessons because I find they typically include many styles, so I develop my technical skills evenly, and with fluidity. I think I'm at generally a 4 level, although I like to practice 5's and 6's because they tend to be more exciting (but I'm not at the level of completing them speed wise). I'm open to other suggestions for lessons. I don't mind having a large group of targeted lessons. For theory I think memorizing the notes on the fretboard would be my first goal. I've read a little on both, but is caged more beneficial to pursue first compared to 3 notes per string? If I don't make sense, it's because it's past my bedtime. Also I made a thread about getting an audio interface for my guitar, I got several replies found here https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...96&hl=kerbs Just wondering if you had any differing opinion. I don't mind shelling out more money if it has lots of value, although I really don't want to spend more than 300$, if that much. I would probably skip my me-70 and just use it on the side. |

I preffer Focusrite or Presonus, over the line 6. And let me add my favorite: M-audio Fast Track. Each of these ones would do the job great. Both are important because you can get different results, and type of licks when you improvise / solo. After some experimentation you will notice that the finger used is not the tricky part of tapping (unless you are trying to use your ring of pinky. Mid and major fingers are strong enough to do the job easily so you can practice with both.
