Hiya GMC,

I have been only playing for about 3 years and bought my first acoustic for $110 (Carlo Robelli). I bought a chord book and began to practice, not really getting anywhere. I begin to take lessons in my hometown for about 6 months and then got deployed for military service. I still practiced and began to find others that could play that started me up on learning scales. Then I discovered tabs, WOOT! Still love my acoustic and play it when the mood strikes me.

I have since bought a new guitar, Ibanez AF85 Artcore Hollowbody Electric Guitar, and I love it. I have looked around my new area in Holland and have failed to find others who play or instructors in my area. Looking up technique online, as I usually do, I found the GMC website. I played around with all the free instructions for a few weeks before deciding to become a member. I am very impressed so far, and a little overwhelmed too. I am looking forward to learning from the great instructors, members and hopefully contributing as much as I can.

My influences cover a wide range of guitarist, seeing that I was born in the 70's. My biggest influence has been Zakk Wylde. He has such a wide variety of music; he can shred with best of them or lay it down acoustically. There are many others who I like, too many to mention but a few that come to mind, Doyle Dykes, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen...just to name a few.

Thanks all,

ROCK ON!!!

C. Pinkerton

Welcome! I know a phrase in Dutch but I won't state it since I don't want Andrew to get upset with me biggrin.gif
It's an activity starting with "n" that takes place "in de keuken" and it rhymes.

I've also impersonated a Dutch, here in Sweden, in order to get chicks (me and a Dutch friend of mine) and it was fun and had it's advantages since I could understand what the girls talked about amongst themselves. It was like playing chess and always knowing the opponents next move laugh.gif

And the language was easy too copy, just saying stuff like "mewouten mit haikel den lopen" etc.

Groetjes smile.gif

Dot is neet meijn problem ... that is seriously the best Dutch phrase I learned whilst working over there = "that is not my problem" pronounced "dot is neet mine probleym" - got me out of a lot of sticky situations. But of course, everyone in Holland speaks perfect English, so you won't have a problem!

Hey, Ezra - how about a dutch lesson over here?
