As is usually happens at the end of the year, there are lots of balances and I'm curious to know which are the albums that you liked more from this year. In my case I have been listening to a lot of old music, so I can't say that there are too many albums from this year that I have been checking.

The first that come to mind: Daft Punk - Random Access Memory // Black Sabbath - 13 // Queens of the stone age - Like Clockwork

What about you? Which are your favorite albums and why?

i got my hands on this album. Void Mother by Obscure Sphinx (Kind Sludge/Doom/Post-"metal") i wouldn't called it best of the year, but i really enjoy it.

here's a couple of songs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jjr7MnwLpPs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwqxXOG_0r8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAY5KV-W9A0

I really like the whole Doomish Athmospheric vibe and the vocals, she goes from very powerful melodic lines to harsh hardcore.

Edit: I also loved the latest Steven Wilson's album, "The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)"

Id also vote for Carcass and Amon Amarth, both had really cool albums this year.

I also really like 'Time tears down' by German melodeath band 'Parasite Inc'

And one of my favourites from 2013, '10 Foot Wizard'

An honorary mention for Insomnium, their 'Ephemeral' EP was damn good. Looking forward to a full album from them next year.

The AIC single - 'Voices' is in my playlist DAILY - I don't know what's up with this tune but I simply can't give it up biggrin.gif And YES - that Daft Punk album is KILLER - I think they hit the jackpot when they decided to collaborate with Nile Rodgers!

Well I usually don't listen to djent-like stuff too much but this dude did something I love - he wasn't afraid to make such a cool styles connections and he's got a great sense of harmony and rhythm variations. Whole production and arrangement is impressive.

My type is Bilo 3 by David Maxim Micic

Great choice here by Posterboy and Darius! I heard about Maxim from a friend of mine a few months ago and I was blown away myself! He had some Andy Timmons like sensibilities in the phrasing and all combined with the djent stuff.. pff! Just great!

Good list. I forgot about ADTR album, but I really liked it!

This is another one that I discovered the last days, and it's from 2013.

A few other cool albums of this musically awesome year:

The Strokes - Comedown Machine (By far their best album, far more groove and punch and not as linear IMHO)
Phoenix - Bankrupt! (guilty pleasure maybe, I saw them live and they're a solid band for a pop-rock act!)
Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks
Junip - Junip (very acoustic, soothing band)
Foals - Holy Fire
Arctic Monkeys - AM (though a lot of people tend to hate on this band, this album is pretty cool, and pop-rock)
Oh and hum hum
Dream Theater - Dream Theater (but I think most of you guys already heard it tongue.gif )

And don't forget
Paul McCartney - New (not bad at all)
and David Bowie - The Next Day (Nothing new really, though some cool songs)

BTW this is all personal taste, so don't start bashing the bands guys wink.gif
