I say.. quite a brutal new year start.. biggrin.gif I am not a fan of the genre but I think you did justice to it smile.gif It seems a bit blurry in some parts, but I guess that's how the style goes? Who recorded the vocals? biggrin.gif

Hi mate, congrats on your first 2014 finished song! It sounds very dark and aggressive. I like those powerful riffs, and your guitar tone. I wonder about the lyrics. Regarding your mix, I like guitar and drums, but I would like to have a more present bass in the mix.

Keep on headbanging!

Heh smile.gif They have a lot of interesting grooves! I am a fan as well and I made a lesson in their style, which is actually based on a song from my band - https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Katatonia-Style/

The grooves are important, so don't mind the tuning too much if you can't go that low smile.gif

Here's the tune in it's recorded version as it appears on our EP, released in 2012:

First step? Emulate the drum grooves in the songs you like smile.gif You will learn A LOT by doing so - it's what I did and it works biggrin.gif

Like the instrumental. Nicely done.

I hate the guttural singing but that's a subjective thing.

Cosmin- yeah that is very true man, I agree! although afterr that video i've been in a weird mood, not very inspired to do anything at all, sometimes it happens to me :/

Darius- thanks a lot man, as for the mixing I used the same settings as our lesson except with maybe a few tweaks lol I just reuse the same project tongue.gif i still have to send you the tracks of the last one but i have to get inspired again!

Ah man.. sometimes, it's good to get out of various moods smile.gif You can't be grim and angry all the times, true? I listen to a lot of music styles, in order to learn and understand music in all its forms. I am mainly a metal player, but if you would see my playlists, you would be a bit baffled tongue.gif

What else do you like to listen to, aside metal?
