well this guy can hack the obamacare website and get 70,000 documents
this mess has cost a few hundred million to create
and republican led congress along with 67 democrats(enough to override a presidential veto) voted that by law if they know your info was hacked they have to tell you
now word on the street is that when it hits the senate(democrat controlled senate )they will kill the bill so they don't have to take blame , when they let your info, they forced you to get , gets stolen. ah, the American government

No offence but the American government seems to be the most intelligent when it comes to collecting easy accessible data for hackers - they spend billions on data banks and cloud networks just ripe for the takings. While they busy spending tax payers money to collect all the personal details on everyone, someone else will of cause put it to some good use.

Anonymous just last year had backdoors in a number of their major security websites (exploited a flaw in Adobe Systems's software) without them being aware of it for more than a year - just monitoring. The breach affected the US Army, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, and perhaps many more agencies. The stolen data included personal information on at least 104,000 employees, contractors, family members and others associated with the Department of Energy, along with information on almost 20,000 bank accounts. All of which they just watched amusingly rather than affecting... yet for some reason America doesn't like to be the one being watched - while they watch the world?

It was even previously said the online component of Obamacare “is a hacker’s wet dream” that will cause “the loss of income for the millions of Americans who are going to lose their identities”. The site was previously DDOSed in protest, etc. Doesn't take a rocket sciencist to predict this hack was coming... All you can do is laugh.

I'll tell you what I CAN'T do in 4 minutes, or 40 minutes for that matter, and that is to go over all the lies, manipulations, unlawful acts, corruption, coercion and coverups I have seen from my government in the last 5 years.

I love the idea of media news.

It turns out that he didn't hack the website.

we never accessed 70,000 records nor is it directly on the healthcare.gov website (a sub-site for the infrastructure). The number 70,000 was a number that was tested for as an example through utilizing Google’s advanced search functionality as well as normally browsing the website. No dumping of data, malicious intent, hacking, or even viewing of the information was done. We do not support the statements from the news organizations.

Isn't it funny how media plays such a big role in spreading lies or mis information of the truth. Oh well.

Right wing wack job site INFOWARS is running the story. The fact that it's complete bunk never seems to get through.

Did you hear about the millions of accounts and personal identity info hacked form TARGET? If you shopped at Target in the past 6 months you are probly having your identity stolen. Great huh? the "private sector" seems to be getting the same treatment.

I could not find this article from the link you posted, however, there is no question as to the security vulnerabilities at healthcare.gov as has been testified to in congress.
Also there is no question as to how poorly written, tested and implemented this website was from the very beginning of it's launch.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57617335-...ting-to-happen/

I can't find the article I read about getting info from the website but the way I understood it, they were able to obtain the info without actually hacking into the site simply by using a web browser, and that they could have obtained hundreds of thousands of people's sensitive information had they not stopped after 4 minutes.

There's security vulnerabilities with ANYTHING on line ... as well as with hard copies. Things get breached. People steal sht all friggin' day. We have to deal with that reality now ... and forever. We all did it to ourselves because we INSIST on ease and access. We reap what we sow. It's always been that way - it always will be that way. The info they can get from me via the healthcare website is minimal at this point and FAR less destructive (to me personally) than what they could glean from my amazon or pay-pal accounts believe me.

Sorry but I can't buy that since you have to submit much more personal info onto the healthcare website than you would have to submit for an amazon or paypal account. So it seems to me that any damage done from accessing info from the healthcare site is at the very least EQUAL to the damage that could be done from personal info acquired from amazon or paypal accounts.
And although I agree any info accessible online is vulnerable, the security of the healthcare site is subpar by any standard from what I am hearing.

Anyone who has access to your Soc Sec # can do a lot of damage ... if they choose to(?). I just can't get that paranoid about that stuff anymore. I mean at this point it's useless to worry about it. So many agencies have your soc sec # CC numbers, address, etc. from the DMV to CC companies to your bank. Do you own a home? Whoever services your loan probably has more info on you than any other agency. What about the IRS?

I agree completely about that sensitive info being available elsewhere. However, that same info and much more at the healthcare website is like one stop shopping for those who might obtain and use it unlawfully. And I just don't believe that I or anyone else should be compelled by law to enter that information there in light of the severity of the security issues it has, being that the website and database is arguably among the most vulnerable sites on the web to breach.
Sure, a lot of that same info is required by law to be given to the IRS, and although vulnerable as well, I would wager that their database is far more secure being on a private government network rather than some website that anyone can go to.

I honestly think that people living in the rural areas having no internet and no 'hi tech facilities' are happier and healthier... Sometimes, I am really thinking about running away in the woods and building a cottage there..

I don't know if Covered California is different but other than yearly family income information, I didn't have to enter any 'payment' info - that came later through the actual health care provider's (Anthem/Blue Cross in my case) site. Everything else was all 'standard' stuff that any bank, school, DMV or govt. agency already has.

last night I went to a party and forgot my phone. As I was thinking about where it might be I noticed that nobody at the party was on theirs . Man was it civilized! And these folks were all at least 20 years younger than me. I have renewed hope.

The weirdest moment for me, was in November while I was in London and stopping by at a railway station, I noticed ALL the people on the sideway (believe me, they were MANY) who were staring into their phones... Weird moment, but that's how it goes... I am trying to eliminate the stupid constant text chatting on Facebook out of my life. If i have something to say, I will say it and that's it, no more time wasting smile.gif

Here is the article pasted from the link smile.gif I feat we are getting in to political back and forth though and I'd like to keep it more about guitar so this will be my last post in this in this thread. Just to be clear, my personal feelings on the healthcare web site are not very positive. My feelings on obamamcare in general though are quite positive. It's shameful that a country like the USA has had to wait this long to provide it's citizens with affordable health care. But finally, we have it. Now if we could only improve our education system to be as good as say, Sweden, Finland, Norway, etc. We would really be moving smile.gif But that would require "standards" which may never happen.

Computer Security Expert Claims he Hacked the ObamaCare Website in 4 Minutes

libertyblitzkrieg.com
January 21, 2014

The hits just keep on coming for ObamaCare. It was less than two weeks ago that I highlighted the potential premium rate death spiral that ObamaCare faces due to the fact that only old and sick people are signing up for the program. Now it seems there are further security related concerns plaguing the site, as cyber-security expert David Kennedy recently claimed that “gaining access to 70,000 personal records of Obamacare enrollees via HealthCare.gov took about 4 minutes.”

It’s actually hard to be this incompetent if you tried. More from the Washington Times:

The man who appeared before Congress last week to explain the security pitfalls of HealthCare.gov took to Fox News on Sunday to explain just how easy it was to penetrate the website.

Hacking expert David Kennedy told Fox’s Chris Wallace that gaining access to 70,000 personal records of Obamacare enrollees via HealthCare.gov took about 4 minutes and required nothing more than a standard browser, the Daily Caller reported.

“And 70,000 was just one of the numbers that I was able to go up to and I stopped after that,” he said. “You know, I’m sure it’s hundreds of thousands, if not more, and it was done within about a 4 minute timeframe. So, it’s just wide open.”

“You can literally just open up your browser, go to this, and extract all this information without actually having to hack the website itself,” he said.

Mr. Kennedy testified before Congress Thursday that HealthCare.gov was “100 percent” insecure, Washington Free Beaconreported.

WELL SAID!!!! I made a pledge to myself this year to try to post stuff that's worth posting. It's tempting to post everything sometimes for some folks. But it just adds to the "noise" of life and it's a bad thing IMHO. As a guide, any activity you do that people can assume you are doing (E.g. having lunch at lunch time, off to the gym/out to eat/etc.) is really not "news" and not really worth posting IMHO.

well todd, I hate to point out the facts, but when did it become affordable, every one I know is paying thousands more, 2 million have signed up, but 6 million have lost there insurance, except Obama's buddies who he got waivers .You yourself said your payment went down , but your deductible was higher -have you done the math to see how quickly you can lose what you have saved

and your education example is what I have been saying all along, we used to have the best education until the government got control, started implementing standards and now look where are educations is,we now in Kansas spend an average of 12000 dollars per kid pr year for their education, one of the best private schools is 6000.Really 12,000 per kid, it is not a money issue.
I am just afraid of what they will do to our health care
just one example of why so many of these European countries have there health care, they did not have to pay as much in the cold war against the USSR, its fact , the USSR was held at bay by our tax dollars paying our military to protect them, they had smaller militarizes not burdening their people as much.

as far as guitar website , its off topic, chill out room,
and that's just what the ruling class wants, you not to talk about it , its to boring to talk about, to scary , too whatever your reason is. once we don't pay attention to them that's when we really get screwed
