A day in the life of?

How do you go about spending your average day?

This is more an interest than experiment of how different people around the world tend to spend their average day to day lives. Seems most of us tend to stick and develop a cycle of routines around us for structure and comfort. Feel free to add as little or as much as you want about your own lifestyle, quirks, impulsive and behaviour patterns. What do you love to do, hate but do anyways, and want to or have change in life?

...

A day in the life of... Aaron H

No alarm clock, aww man still wake up at 7am and instantly get up even on the weekend - On the dot each morning, this has been programmed into the body clock as a kid waking up for school, but has gone to the point where even if I went to bed at 4:30am, I'll still wake at 7am and not want to sleep-in at all! Sometimes I just wish I could sleep in a bit.

My little jack russell dog managed to somehow survive yet another night at the foot of my bed (hopefully not kicked off) because in the mornings my bed tends to looks like a bomb shell hit it, blankets all over the place.

Zombie walk to the bathroom, still in my pj boxers. Not at all tired as such, but rather in an automatic motion process.

I don't drink coffee or sodas, but take a high caffeine hit / metabolism boost from 'Green Coffee Bean Extract'. It's basically like drinking 3 standard cups of raw coffee, but in pill form, pretty much as soon as awake. Ugh, I'm awake - feel like I could jog the entire block or take the dog for a run!!!

Get dressed, do hair, etc. Curse you metro-sexual behaviour, spend a while on getting the hair just right.

About 30 minutes, then go grab some breakfast. This is on an average day 6x egg whites cooked with lemon juice, a bit of cheese, onion and chicken, etc - into an omelette (for a protein hit), whole grain or instant rolled oats with a few berries.

With breakfast I also take 1 Vita Freak pack (this is 2x Multi-Vitamin, 2x Multi-Mineral, 2x Amino Acid Complex, Antioxidant, Immune Support, Digestive Support, Cognitive Support, Cardiovascular support, and 2x Absorption). Most vitamin pills are a waste and simply go straight through you, but these I believe do make a difference with absorption helpers as well.

By now, you probably worked out I'm a bit of a health freak. My mum is a fitness/heath care instructor, and well it's rubbed off onto me later in my teens. I use to be a really skinny runt of a kid without any muscles. Got tired of being picked on at school and now I do P90X at the gym 5 times a week and got a bit of upper body, do some free running and stay quite active.

Take a protein shake (Myofusion ProBiotic) with water pre-workout. If I've not been too lazy, spend a hour at the gym followed by an electrolyte replacement drink.

Lunch is normally a lean meat with salad. I tend to avoid carbs (white bread, pastry, etc) and boost up on proteins.

I previously use to go really down hill from here on to be honest... as a rather popular kid, got involved in the wrong crowds and peer-pressure, use to smoke up some weed and do underage drinking for the rest of the day and/or throughout the night - I regret that and what a complete waste reversing all which I've previously done to remain healthy. Be a complete shit and finding trouble just for fun at night. For example: We would hang out on the school roof, smoking a blunt, then running like crazy away from the cops after tripping the silent alarm - even to the point of getting a k9 unit chasing us down. I had to think really hard, ditch a number of friends who I use to smoked with and break that habit completely avoiding it. So these day, I don't have as many friends as I use to, but more closer, true ones.

Finally my day actually starts and go hang out with some good friends these days. Activities vary but might go skateboard at the park or surf at the beach. NZ is surrounded with beaches. Might go watch a movie or net cafe, late at night. I keep pretty fit and healthy, which I guess keeps me out of trouble. I've left that previous crap behind me now for good.

Thought out the day play quite a bit of PC, use to console but not any more. PC is way better! Love competitive online gaming, mostly Counter Strike, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2, etc. I can end up spending way too many hours on this. I would probably be a pro guitarist if I spend that much time instead towards it!

Yeah I play a bit of guitar, try for at least 1 hour a day. Might tie this into playing Rocksmith on PC. Practice for most, with a jam or two afterwards. Seems my neighbour plays the drums from next door, we can hear each other and so sometimes I jam a bit with him, even though we aren't close or really even know each other. Never really got to the point of an actual band, but sometimes do a bit of busking on the city streets by myself. To be honest, I don't really like an audience when I play, which is a major problem when attempting to be a guitarist. I tend to get a little subconscious and focus too much upon not making mistakes, therefore I make them. I play best in my room away from distracts, when just not really caring but more feeling it and making up whatever comes my way.

Hate TV commercials, but parents refuse to pay for television. So I got them TiVO for Christmas. Shh, don't tell them but it's more for me! The best thing I could possibly get and quite cheap too. It basically learns and records your favourite movies/shows and you can get a season pass to record all of them if you like. Record TV, pick what you like to watch whenever, and then fast forward those stupid ads.

Actually studying at University in IT, mainly web design and media. My dad does 3D animations for his work and I've always been interested in that and all things PC. For fun, developed a few websites and small games, etc. Part-time work however is being a part-time clothing model for some magazine. Awkward job for a dude, but makes the cash which I end up spending back into a number of investments.

I never really purchased crappy small items in my entire life, rather research and purchase just a few expensive ones which I think I'll use regularly. This is pretty much a PC gaming machine, guitar dream rig, skateboard and surfboard. My life revolves around using them daily.

Still live at home with my parents, but have a rental property and planning to move into it hopefully within a few more years of paying off the mortgage.

I don't have nearly as much to say about my day. My alarm goes off at 6 am, always extremely loud, always "Imaginations From the Other Side" by Blind Guardian. I go make some cereal, get dressed, and bring my birds to my room, where we sit and I get tweeted at. At 6:30 I eat my cereal, then drive to the end of my driveway at 7 and wait for the bus. I sit in a brick building for 8 hours, usually writing quietly in one of my many notebooks, then go home again, do a workout for 1-4 hours, practice guitar for as long as I can stand, and play Skyrim or Minecraft for the rest of the time until I have to go to bed. If I'm at my other grandpa's on the weekend, I stay up till around 1-5 AM writing, drawing, and listening to music, then get woken up around 9 and do basically nothing all day.

For me... usually waking up around 7.30 or 8, it really depends on how late I go to sleep the night before (the idea is to have a minimum of 7 hrs of sleep/night) Then it goes like this:

meditate, sword practice, breakfast, GMC forum and coffee, business stuff, pumping iron, lunch, guitar practice/music stuff and some evenings I go sword practicing in the dojo with the Sensei, others I have rehearsals... but these are the things that make up a normal day usually. I go to bed around 1 AM most of the time.

My alarm clock sound at 5:00 AM (including in weekend) but usually I wake up before the alarm sound tongue.gif After doing around 200 crunches, I go to make a bath approximately 30 minute. After that I dressed and makeup another 30 minutes. After I feed my cats, I go and play at guitar 1 hour (create me a good mood smile.gif). At 7:30 AM go at my office. Around 8:30 I am at work and check the GMC forum, Facebook, mail...etc. At 9:00 I drink an energizer and smoke first cigarette from day smile.gif Around 9:30 I start to work and organize exactly what problem I have to solve related to work.
After I resolve a very big part from my work, I check again GMC forum and look in mentoring programs what new things happened. If I saw some new tips that are in my area of interest (especially about mixing and plug-ins), I write all tips in my agenda for make some experiments. I must say that I’m the person who follow some steps that other students make in their personal thread and "steal" how many tips is possible laugh.gif laugh.gif
Later I start to make some experiments for video editing and learn new stuff. If I remember, around 14:00 PM eat something biggrin.gif
So, until at 18:00 when I finish my program from the office I spend the time between my experiments music related and office work smile.gif
In the way of my home I try to eat something because I don't want lose time with that when I get home. Around 19:00 -19:30 I am at home and go to relax in a hot bath around 1 hour.
At 20:30 I start to play at guitar. I try at every hour to make a pause and smoke a cigarette and drink again some energy drink. I will not say how many energy drink I consume throughout the day because I know I'm very dependent and this is a bad thing tongue.gif Around 1 AM I try to smoke a last cigarette and go to sleep. This is how I spend a normal day without unexpected thing to occur. Lately always something unusual appeared smile.gif

Really interesting lifestyles, most including myself tend to bounce from one extreme to the other (positives to negatives) while some stay in the middle at a steady pace. My experiment wasn't to break my bad habits, but rather slowly make small changes in my lifestyle to the point it becomes a positive replacement habit...

Slowly over time I've had it more a habit to eat healthy and exercise, to the point of getting some abs. Why? Because it keeps me focused and gives a reason to make the biggest lifestyle adjustment in my life. I still need to reduce the hours spend sitting down, mostly in front of the PC draining the rest of the day away. Did you know that sitting down for more than 4 hours straight is about as bad as smoking? Slows your metabolism down to 1% and easily adds to building fat around the stomach.

Facts of life:
Your subconscious mind simply leads you towards what you focus - positive or not doesn't matter. Therefore if you hate something and focus on it, it will unfortunately lead you more towards it, making it extremely hard to change. Instead it's best to find a replacement for it. Which is why I'm interested in others lifestyles as well. Everyone has the good and the bad.

@MetalHeadLady - "Imaginations From the Other Side" by Blind Guardian is an awesome wake up call! What kind of birds do you have and do they get let out in your room? My cousin got a couple of love birds which get released in his house in the mornings, they would dive bomb and annoying their fat lazy Garfield of a cat, even land on him to tease, lol. Always been amused with them and their personalities. Pets can make a huge difference in people's lives. I know my dog does! Sounds like your got a pretty good structure going in life. Is there any one little thing you wish to adjust?

@Cosmin - Dang your focused. Meditation and sword practice is always a good lifestyle and mind set. What got you into doing that in the first place?

@Monica - Ahh, you sound quite a bit like me - fighting the good vs bad battle! Working hard, but a lot more clean with your baths. Reminds me, note to self - take more baths or showers, specially after the gym.

I use to really be into the energy drinks as well. Tough habit to break as they are so good and make you feel great. Lived on caffeine energy to get me through the day! Still something I'm trying to reduce. What I actually ended up doing was taking 'ANS Performance Diablo Thermogenic' instead, believe me it's a good hit and tastes great. Can be used for weight lose, but I just used it as a pre-workout supplement. My rather skinny but my abs would never show due to the fact of taking sodas, energy drinks and alcohol. That replaced all my drinking, you can't take any caffeine with it as your end up overdosed, plus you have to drink quite a bit of water instead. Makes your feet sweat and if you exercise, it gives a good boost - fat to pure energy. Can be quite expensive though, so simple extracted coffee bean became a cheaper replacement and still reducing it over time.

I also use to do a number of crunches, but it got me no where for the effort at first. Drinking will keep your stomach from showing any abs. Here's something which really helped thou - Vertical Knee Raises (15 Reps), Plank Hold (30s), Bicycle crunches (15 Reps), and then Reverse crunches (15 Reps). Do them back-to-back without any rest between. Then take 30-60 seconds break and repeat the circuit 3 more times. Your abs will be screaming for mercy! The vertical knee raises really boosts any overall abs workout, reducing the time taken to peak. You can do these as 'In and Outs' on the ground as well. I do these each 2nd time and have grown to love/hate it! You will feel it if done right smile.gif

The bells at the beginning terrify me every morning, as the alarm volume is always reset at midnight, so it's always really loud. As for the birds, they're cockatiels, free go fly around the house as they please, as well as one green cheeked conjure that refuses to not sit on people. But yeah, they can do whatever, basically. I don't really want to change anything, but I wish there was more time in a day.

@metalheadlady - Haha I bet - My worst alarm clock which completely freaked me, was when I was young sleeping over at a friends place. His little brother who was like 4-5 years old at the time, wakes up at 4am each morning and sings/hums happily in bed. It's just like something you hear out of a horror movie however, really freaky spine chilling sound. Think how creepy those little girls that just go 'Laaarrr larrr laaaa' in horror movies are and have no idea why. Specially the first time you hear it and I had no idea where it was coming from! Anyways, those cockatiels sound like a ball of cheeky fun to add to the day! Also, it's hard to know where the time goes to sometimes each day, gets stuck away mostly by computers.

Hey buddy, well, I have an interest towards knives, swords and generally sharp objects and weapons since I was in the 2nd grade in primary school. I kept drawing swords all day long... At some point I found the 'Bushido' code in my parents home - it kind of scared me because I did not understand too much at that time. But those people fascinated me somehow... Over the years I started learning more and more and I found myself wanting to learn samurai swordsmanship - what better way to channel the love for sharp blades than this?

In 2012 I finally found a worthy school and started practicing - indeed, it helps A BIG LOT as swordsmanship has a lot to do with Zen and spiritual development smile.gif It basically helps every aspect of my life, to be honest..

@Azzaboi - Thanks for video, very interesting smile.gif

I like to make crunches but I don't make this for weight lose. I really don't want to weight lose because I have 1.70m and 43kg smile.gif So, I think if I lose even 1 kg I will "disappear" biggrin.gif Always my friends make some jokes and tell me that I don't need to buy tickets to travel because the wind take care of that (in my language sounds more funny) laugh.gif laugh.gif
I'm just a little obsessed to see squares on abdomen. Of course not like a boy, but a tiny contour is perfect for me wink.gif I really love that. So, this is why I make crunches, even if are not so relaxing.
The funny thing is that I'm not obsessed to see this at a guy wink.gif

@Cosmin - I will look into the samurai swordsmanship a bit, curious but I think my parents wouldn't let me. I've already been arrested once for carrying a display sword in public! My friend's older brother just purchased it and I was swinging around playing with it while just walking home. Next thing I know I'm surrounded by 5 police officers telling me to freeze! Weapons are taken really seriously here, people don't even know guns without a really good reason and license.

@Monica - Oh snap, she wants the 8 pack, 6 isn't good enough!!!

Haha, nah I'm not obsessed, nor am I bulky... I'm lean and they just show a bit.

Also I'm not the one to post my abs online - looks legit:

Or use shortcuts, haha:

I thought I was skinny, but your weighting what I did when I was around 13 at 43kg! What is your B.M.I (Body Mass Index)? Actually weight doesn't really mean a thing, due to water and muscle mass, etc.

I have a special permit to carry my sword - but its only for the blunt one - in its scabbard and tied up in a sort of gig bag smile.gif I don't know if you are allowed to carry a shinken (sharpened sword) in public

Yeah, I can't explain why, but abs sort of bother me. I like people who look like they'd be comfortable to sit on. Not that I sit on people all the time, or ever, but that's sort of my rule... now that I write it, it sounds ridiculous, but whatever.

Comfortable to sit on?!?!!! Haha, how did this topic get changed into chat about abs anyways?

Alright, I wasn't going to say this, but your pressured me into it...

One of my number one goofy trademark secrets in getting the ladies!!! Boys listen up, because this actually worked for me. Throw being subconscious about your body right out of the window, girls love a man with confident but don't go about just drooling over them or even caring/seeking them out that much, rather have them come straight to you!

When I was just hitting into puberty and gaining more interest in the gals, I found out they had little or no interest in a skinny runt of a kid. I wasn't obsessed about abs as such but rather getting a little upper body on the arms and developing a V-line. V-Line abs are just the lower area, where your hips curve. This is the best thing you can possibly do as a young boy, as it seems to change your overall appearance. Well so I believed at the time.

This is what I would do, it's a laugh and a half! Get a bit of a V-Line abs curve going. Go to the swimming pools in my broad togs (swimwear or whatever you call it) which has a string waist (rather than elastic). Lower them a bit in front to show off the V-Line more and a bit of a tan line, yeah, yeah I was a goof - at least I didn't low ride pants throughout my youth. Best to only do before puberty as too much body hair might give a different 'gross' reaction. Sit at the edge of the pool with my feet in the water, then lie back with hands behind the head. This gives a relaxed but stretched look. Then just chill out... You will be surprised how many girls come up to say hi and spark up a conversation. The first 5 second look is what most people will judge a person on.

The next step just listen, then reply back whatever they say always with open ended questions (questions that don't just require yes or no answers). Chicks really seem to dig a person who listens and assumes your interested in the same thing when they themselves are actually the ones leading the conversation.

So now you know my best kept secret I used a number of times as a kid attempting to score, lol... Girls please tell me how on or completely off track I was?

So now you know my best kept secret I used a number of times as a kid attempting to score, lol... Girls please tell me how on or completely off track I was?

If nothing else, v lines are nice. I don't generally like the same things that "normal" girls like. Muscular sporty type? Meh. Oh, you're hair is as long as mine? helllooo

I for one like being in good shape, so that I may run, climb, jump, fight, lift and in general have an athletic constitution which keeps me healthy smile.gif

So that's one big reason why I allot that 1h30 minutes a day for training my body and also the minimum of 7 hrs of sleep.

@metalheadlady - You would probably hate me as the sporty type (not that muscular, but working on that too) and tend to keep my hair medium or short length, just spikey.

@Cosmin - Ditto, but only in the gym 1 hour (3 times a week - weights) and 30 minutes (2-3 times a week - cardio or sports). See you at the next 'American Ninja Warrior' try outs, lol!

I tend to live life a bit on the edge to keep it interesting, I enjoy free running (parkour), skateboarding, surfing, swimming, also do some biking (forest or neighbourhood), basket ball, karate, and indoor rock climbing, etc. So having a lot of endurance and energy helps - as a kid I had an endless supply of this, now I tend to have to workout to keep the same level. As the rest of the time I could spend sitting down just in front of the PC or TV or study (in that order), even sit mostly when playing guitar. The world tends to be one which sits around too much for my liking, I've even considered getting one of those electric standing desk for home, just so I don't have to sit if I don't want for more than 4-8 hours in a single period. The gym gets me out there, it's also a great place to socialise a bit more too.

Well there are exceptions, I'm not saying if you are a sporty type that's bad. It's not. I'm just generally more indifferent, but some of them are still pretty nice looking.

laugh.gif That whole American Ninja thing makes me laugh so bad! Leave it to the film industry to transform something with roots so deep into a plastic super hero type thing biggrin.gif If you want to know stuff about medieval Japan, Ninja, Samurai and generally, about the tumultuous Japanese history, try reading Dr. Stephen Turnbull's books. That guy knows his stuff as a historian!
