Gnarly stuff Ben.

Sorry if I've missed you posting about it but how are you liking the 7? I was in a Guitar Center this weekend and they had the 8 string version of that guitar (for a phenomenal price) but no 7's in the shop. Didn't have time to stop and play it but it looked massive. Between my Strat and my Ibanez, the Ibanez definitely has the wider neck as it is so I'm really interested to see how the 7 or 8 feels.

You and Fireball seem to manage just fine, but that's not surprising with both of you guys. cool.gif

I had a Loomis maybe 2-3 years ago and the neck was really fat and thick. Great guitar but being a 7, that neck felt like I was playing with a 2x4. I actually own an Ibanez RGD, the neck feels so good, its wide but the thinness balances it back out. I must say 7s aren't for everyone, as much as I love mine I still prefer a 6 stringer any day.

I love it ! In terms of comfort there's no downsides at all. The hardest thing about the 7 is just how it throws your perception off. You're not always sure where you are. So that's the only thing I've had to adjust to. Playability is excellent smile.gif

Thanks Ben, I'm going to have to get by and try one out for a while. The limited reviews I've read seem to echo what you said as far as comfort and playability goes.

Yeah, my RG's neck is not too thick at all but it is noticeably wider than my strat's, although still very comfortable to me, in some cases even more comfortable. Given how long I've played a 6 string I would guess I will prefer that too like you but at the price they are asking for these it's hard not to go grab one just to have it. There have been dozens of times I've really wanted to get into the heavy drop tune riffing but my guitars just aren't built for it.
