I got this brilliant new book recently by Dayal Patterson called "Black Metal - Evolution of the cult". If you are into books about metal and that kind of thing I highly recommend it. Also anyone who liked the book 'Lords of chaos' then you'll definitely like this one too.
Basically it chronicles all the important bands / figures in the creation and development of black metal. Amazing interviews with Hellhammer, VON, Sameal, Blashphemy, Beherit.... and ALL the others smile.gif where they talk about the circumstances around their first releases and demos.
Some great unreleased and rare band photos and scans of demo tapes as well.
Really cool glimpse into the people behind the pseudonyms and what sort of stuff was happening as they put their bands together.

you can get it from amazon or if you go direct to the author I think you can still get autographed copies, which I got, it's kinda cool smile.gif
Here's a few pics of my copy. Im only about a quarter of the way through and just got to the formation of Mayhem.
