Hey there!

Today I have the pleasure of introducing a nice and humourous guy: Kai

He has plaid professionally and you can check out some of his biography here:

http://www.myspace.com/kaimuehlenbruch

The first lesson which Kai and I have been working on will be a straight forward metal downstroke riffing lesson, which we haven't had to much of! biggrin.gif

Hey smile.gif

hmmm...well, actually I thought a lot about what could be usefull for any "skillrange"...in the first lesson...just check it out wink.gif hopefully it is ok...I like it a lot...

influences..., naw that´s a hard one. I listen to totally different musicstyles. Because I realised just metal doesnt bring me any further, when I was like 16 or so...so I got more and more into stuff the 80s at that time...pop, new age, electro, classical music...wot ever...I am a true metal guy to the bone really, but it would be like just eating one sort of food you know?! Strawberries everyday don´t taste that good after two years:D And so much paralells could be found in the different styles...for real! I don´t like those different titles that much anymore. I don´t care if something is speed, power, black, death, prog wot-ever sausage metal...that´s just names made by the media...to sell the --- of the latest metalsensations...

also...I can´t really name what influenced me a lot, on my own...someone else might know better what could be found in my playing...BUT there are a lot of musicians I listened to over the years...some I look up to, some I respect a lot, some I already met and like even better or less, EVERYTHING!

I am really crazy about input of all kinds wink.gif

for example yesterday a friend forwarded me old Zappa stuff...some live dvd...I tried years really hard to get Zappa in the right way for I know he is beyond the limits...but I just did not get into the way that music should be listened to...so I did not judge anything and put it on the shelf again...yesterday I finally understood a bit of what was happening in that song...I should have known better, to watch that stuff LIVE!

WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!

ok...I am tripping out again:D I will just make a short list of my favs:

FAVS/IDOLS/INSPTIRATION:

AC/DC
IRON MAIDEN
MANOWAR
HELLOWEEN
METALLICA
SENTENCED
TESTAMENT
AYREON (inkl. alle nebenprojekte wie z.b. STAR ONE)
CANNIBAL CORPSE
NEAL MORSE
SAXON
SYMPHONY X
SPOCKS BEARD
STRYPER
DISCIPLE
RAMONES
CYNIC
MOTÖRHEAD
PINK FLOYD
STING(AND THE POLICE)
FREAK KITCHEN
MICHAEL MANRING
MIKE OLDFIELD
PHILIPPE CAILLAT
AINA
SAGA
CLANNAD
TRIUMPH
FALCO
SPLIFF
D.A.F.
various NDW artists
lots of folk and world bands...

WAGNER
BACH
MUSSORGSKY
RAVEL
VIVALDI
GRIEG
BEETHOVEN
PROKOFIEV
MOZART

Django Reinhardt...I don´t understand most of his work yet...but he was...well...needless to say...

VAI
KENEALLY
EKLUNDH
HENDRIX
ALAN MORSE
ERIC JOHNSON
DE LUCÍA
MCKEE
ERIC SARDINAS
RHEINHARD MAY (german singer songwriter)
BOOTSY
JACKSON 5
man ...the list is endless

let´s finish with something I find is one of the highest "grades" in making music...
Composer for Film-Music...such as:

BASIL POLEDOURIS
HANS ZIMMER
JOHN WILLIAMS
DANNY ELFMAN

etc.

That is what I LOVE to listen to smile.gif just to name a few biggrin.gif sorry I just can´t answer what influences me...

hope noone is gonna be upset by my spamming *g*

GREETINGS,
Kai

Kai,
We'll get along just fine! I don't think my answer would have been much different.
