The new guitar is not yet in my possession, I have bought it though, but it's with my parents! I'm really looking forward to playing it.

Hi Ceal, this is not my specialty but lately I 've been writing much more.

The secret for me is having an initial idea that really moves you, something deep that is related to your life usually helps to take the words out easily. At least that's what happens to me so I prefer real life topics over fantastic topics. For this, you can also write about friends or people that you know... If you prefer switching to fantastic topics, I feel that you really need to get into the story to write something deep that means anything for you.

These are some random ideas that I recommend:

- Always having a notepad to write words or phrases that you imagine or read that you like.
- The same with ideas or successes that surround you.
- Read a lot. It's the same than making music, the more music that you listen, the more ideas and vocabulary you'll have. The same happens with reading and writing.
- Analyze the lyrics of your favorite songs. Check the structure, what is the main idea, how it's developed along the whole song. What's the relationship between the lyrics and the music happening.
- Practice! Don't try to write a masterpiece and get blocked, just write, write, write... silly stories, bad lyrics, everything! The more you practice, the better your writings will be.

Thanks for the tips, Gabriel smile.gif I appreciate it a lot and I will try them out. I seem to come up with 2 lines of lyrics and then I run into a wall and can't get any further.

Well, that's what I mean when I say don't get blocked. Let the words go out, don't try to find the perfect words or phrases, just write, write, write, and then keep polishing. It's my trick to create.

One big problem I have is letting go, if those are the right words, and actually sing with power. Especially higher notes. I'm too afraid what my neighbours would think.

yes, that's my problem too here because I live on an apartment and neighbors are very close. You need to find your place to sing and scream freely... maybe doing some kind of acoustic treatment or going to a rehearsal room to do it...

I don't think I can justify building such a thing in my living room biggrin.gif Just seen it. It's pretty nice though!

hehehe yeah, it's great! Another option could be to set a mobile studio and go to a rehearsal room.
