I'm trying! But I also have a new friend who's much better and who will give it a go.

I lost all my work when formatting my computer (virus and it kept crashing, and I couldn't figure a way out of it). I was sure I had saved my work on a USB storage device, and I had saved some of it, but most of it is gone. I haven't found the energy to start over again with it. So for now it's put on hold.

Meanwhile I'm working on getting good technique on the guitar. I'm working on some arpeggios that I will try and post soon, but I can only play them very slowly.

Oh! That sounds really bad mate, I'm so sorry about the virus issue. I understand that it's tricky to had the energy to redo everything again. It's great to know that you are putting your energy on practicing guitar. Keep going.

Yeah, it's a bummer! But I'm enjoying practicing technique again after many years of not really practicing that regularly. I'll post the arpeggio video today I think. I'm still struggling with it even at a slow tempo.

Here is the sequence played slow and badly! I'm struggling to sweep at a low tempo, but I'm struggling to remember the notes when playing faster.

Good Cael! This is a monter arpeggio lick. I recommend you work on small sections of this one in order to be able to play it fast. That's the only way to start playing this faster soon. Work on 1 measure at a time, then combine 2 and so...

I tried to find inspiration from Jason Becker when writing it, but I can only play it 1/3 of the speed he would play it at biggrin.gif

It's a good excuse to work on Sweep Picking. Again, the secret is working on small sections. How is it going?

I'm still struggling with it, but pushing it daily by few bpm. Maybe some day I will get it fast smile.gif Meanwhile I'm also working on alternate picking, which is going better smile.gif

I will try and keep you updated as much as possible. smile.gif

I have signed up for a course at Coursera.org, which is called Write Like Mozart. I tried doing it last year, but I was not able to complete it. I will try better this time. Maybe it will add something to my composing. smile.gif

Depending on the student and goals I work with the Technique Course or Todd's Shred Course.

What's your plan?

I don't really have a concrete plan to be honest. Mostly I'm trying to make up exercises myself, such as the arpeggio one and work on that. I think that's one method that benefits me the most, as I then have think about things too smile.gif

That sounds good. So you don't need more exercises, you need structure and maybe a few complementary exercises. In the case of Sweep Picking, I insist that the trick is to work on very small sections as a loop.

The key is to make the right hand movement smooth and natural, check out this lesson, pay attention to the right hand:

Thanks for the lesson suggestion smile.gif

I'm also currently working on trying to set up a practice schedule in Excel. It's a bit complicated and I keep having to edit bits and things in there to make room for more information. I guess you could say I'm procrastinating my guitar practice at the moment, but if I can get some more structure, I think that would be great smile.gif

Also... did you see my new camera set up for video recording? smile.gif
