A drummer put up a post looking for people to play prog/djent with. He's a huge Mike Portnoy fan. Then another guy contacted him, and we all 3 are gonna start something. Though it's then 2 guitars and a drummer.

I'm not sure how I would set up recording through it though.

I have no money at the moment, now that I've spent it all on gear. The only mic I have is a Behringer B-1, I think it's a condenser. Will that work?

It's not the best option but it will work! What's the purpose of the recording?

Condeser mics are used for guitar amps as an alternative so it can work, you need to try it. However, the king is dynamic SM-57.

This article is very interesting: https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/guitar-amp-recording

I'm trying to get more and more into singing, both clean and raspy, here's something I'm working on, just a small test/teaser.

And with some backing vocals:

Hi Cael, this is brilliant! I love the color of your voice, and I can detect your own style on this one. There is something that makes the composition very fresh, and nice to hear. Maybe the fact that you composed this one quickly, without thinking on everything too much, helped to make it sounds more genuine, don't you think so?

I love it. Congrats.

I wanna rerecord the vocals, just for a bit more control. I recorded when I was freezing a lot, and I don't think that's optimal for singing. smile.gif But thanks a lot, I think the color of my voice is improving, and I'm trying to get more control and ability to move from soft to harsh screams within a song. smile.gif

The music was written very instinctively and I think you're right about it smile.gif

I've changed a few things in the track, especially vocals wise and ending drum wise:

Hi Cael, this sounds much more profesional from what I remember the previous version was. One of my favorite part is when you do some screamy notes along with the drums in a very Tool style. That's killer!

I like the treatment that you've gave to the drums.

On a side note, but related to what I've said, hav you listened to A Perfect Circle's new track? The drum sound and the overall mix are amazing.

Yeah, I added some harmonies to the vocals from the first version, edited the drums, did some mixing, changed the drums in the end of the song etc.

Gonna listen to the new APC now, didn't know there was a new track out smile.gif

Go for it! The mix is inspiring. And congrats again on your new song. I feel that there is something cool coming from this.
