Yes sir it was. The video does not do it justice either. If you can see them live, you won't be disappointed, the feel of those riffs and grooves pounding your chest, watching Portnoy kill those drums and flip that microphone stand around, Richie being ambidextrous as hell sounding better than Chris Cornell live and Sheehan smoking that bass.

And the main dude from Porcupine Tree opening up - with his style which is like a modern version of Pink Floyd at Pompeii. <--- though, I was not in that sort of mood at that particular time

It was great and mind blowing.

SHY BOY!?!?! No F'n way. Too rad!!!

It was great man - we had a blast. I just walked in the door coming home from Atlanta. We were a little late getting to the show but saw most of the first band, we ate at Ted's - had Bison Fillets, man those things melt in your mouth.

Working on 4 hours of sleep, but I have some video I shot, and I hope it sounds good. They are right up there with Rush for me, awesome 3 piece band just jamming. Portnoy won me over with his smaller kit (than Dream Theater), he played rawer and heavier it seemed - all 3 are great showman. Richie smokes that Tele and Sheehan on the bass is one of a kind - I've seen Sheehan 3 times now, first with Mr. Big and David Lee Roth, and I think this was the best - maybe because it was a smaller more personal venue.

They ended the show with this and Billy sang it...

Yes, Richie hits all the squelches and most the dives with no pick on a Tele with no tremolo, using string bends - dude is phenomenal.

BTW - I looked all over for you Todd.

Oh my! Richie Kotzen is great! I've stollen a lot of licks from the man. I love this formula - great songs, rock'n'roll and a lot of rhythmic formulas. It always makes me smile when I catch a great one

I've been watching some old videos of Richie Kotzon lately and noticed that he used to play with a pick, I wonder why he decided to change to the side of his thumb, seems a bizarre leap.

TED'S is AMAZING!! Bison burgers are awesome We have several teds but I thought they were nation wide? Do they not have teds in other states? If not, they should!!!

I've been watching some old videos of Richie Kotzon lately and noticed that he used to play with a pick, I wonder why he decided to change to the side of his thumb, seems a bizarre leap.

His evolution as a player is very interesting to watch He started out like a shredder - I remember listening to his first solo album and not liking it one bit and then BOOM! The bluesy, soul, rnb influences came in and he started sounding totally amazing Complex, soulful and tasty playing! And now, he is probably getting closer to the roots I think, that's why there's no pick involved Could be it, you know ..

The manager of the restaurant, for some reason, came up to our table and just talked and talked and talked about Ted Turner and meeting him and how the restaurant is run. From what he said, Ted Turner has many ranches and some that have Bison which will not end up on menus, but his Montana ranch is the location where Bison are raised for the restaurants.

They don't roam the plains like they use to, but they are bred for consumption. And the good thing about these Bison is that they are free range, they don't live boxed in shelter and pumped full of chemicals and steroids for processing - the entire process is supposed to be humane and anti-industrial. Not sure if this is true or not, but he said the Bison were not even herded with automobiles but with men on horseback.

Cool You mentioned burgers in your post so I didn't know if you tried the steak Best steaks on earth imho!!!

COSMIN: Ted Turner (started CNN back in the day) raises herds of them free range just for his restaurants. He's bred so many of them that we've now got more than we've had in decades. The population is being managed but it's going up, not down, so no problems there

Hey guys! I never tried bison steak, but one thing I did know, is that it was an almost extinct species and this is why I was asking. It's a good thing to know that they are being bred and allowed to reproduce in order to sustain the species.

That does seem like a funny leap. I tend to move my pick around while I'm playing to but to hit different sides of it. Trying to accomplish different attack sounds. I've been curious about a thumb pick, but don't want to be locked in to using a pick in only one way.
