> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Targeting Chord Tones: Marty Friedman Style by Ben Higgins

My guitar was tuned down a whole step so I re-recorded the backing track in the lower tuning and played over that. Hope that's cool! Thanks in advance for the feedback,

Hi Zeus! Good job on this demanding lesson. You are close to master it but there are still things to be improved. Let me tell you what details you should have in mind when you continue practicing the lesson:

- Be careful with the pitch of your bends. (check for example at 00:22).
- Your vibrato is wide but a bit irregular, try to make it more consistent.
- There are some phrases around 00:38 that has timing issues.
- Licks between 00:37 - 00:43 and aroung 01:02 should be polished. Isolate this ideas and try to play them tighter.

That's all. It's a good take as I said before but there are details to polish. Keep on the good job!

Hey mate! Looks like Gabi has nailed the important details on this one, so please focus on practicing slow, in order to incorporate his suggestions in your playing and then gradually raise speed so that you may get things flowing.

Keep rocking!

Zeus, Lord of the Skies !!

This is a really cool take of this lesson. Your version has an aggressive edge to it, with more palm muting. It's different but I really like it.

One thing that impresses me is that you have nailed the 'staccato' phrasing where notes are cut off quickly with the pick, like at 0:08. Most people overlook this element but you got it !

I think your bending skills are good overall.. your pitch is accurate most of the time. What I think was needed is the bends often end a bit prematurely because it sounds like you've got to release them early in case your finger slips off the string - would I be right in guessing that ? If you could work on that issue then your bends will be excellent.

Thanks for choosing my lesson to work on, I really enjoyed hearing it smile.gif

Well done mate! I see You have very good pitch feel and tight picking. I would underline Gab's observation about irregular vibrato - Try to add some more control on it's rate and depth so it would sound smoother. Aside from a few timming slips (very small) I have nothing to complain smile.gif
