Are You Inspired To Build Chords Only By Hearing A Melodic Line? |

When i started to play guitar i was interested only on playing solos.But, in time i realized that my main inspiration for playing a good solo came from a good arrangement that was behind my solos even if i played over a backingtrack that was not created by me.
In time after playing a lot of covers, i realized that i can create my own arrangement and not only playing the original song. (try to use only a clean tone or acoustic guitar) The melodic line i give it's a simple one, so that you can have multiple possibilities to express your imagination. LET'S GET CREATIVE TODAY!

That version of 'Black Hole Sun' is great! I might steal that arrangement.

A lot of possibilities over that very nice diatonic melody.
Here's a bunch streamed together. Nice idea Marius! Your reversions are very enjoyable. It would be cool if you do some lessons explaining how your approach is to do this arrangements.

Because it's such a beautifully diatonic melody you can harmonize underneath the top note/melody note many, many different chords. I started with the chords of the major scale (key of C - do) and progressively substituted farther and farther away though all are fairly common to jazz and gospel/soul music. As long as the chord contains a melody note or 'implies' a melody note ... all good. Your ears are the final arbiter. This is not necessarily the order of the four bar phrases, though the I did start with the first one. Each line of four measures is one time through the melody. The two 8 bar phrases are just longer harmonic phrases. You can mix and match most of these. *That should be an Abmaj7#11 in the second to last line, last chord.

Beeing inspired by Klasaine i tried a version for you, with interesting chords.
You will see that the chords are built over each note of the melodic line, and they are marked with colours. So you can put any chord, but the ideea is that each chord must contain the note from each bar of the melodic line hope is usefull
