Are you more concentrated during specific hours of the day? I find that early morning or late evening, or even night time I can disconnect other things that stress or distract me - and have a more productive guitar session, of course, in respect to how my body functions:

- morning
Pros: better focus and rested ears
Cons: stiff body - even if we are awake, the body is not entirely ready for full physical action.

- late evening
Pros: the body is warmed up and much more prepared for physical strain
Cons: your hearing may be tired and as your brain is a bit tired as well, your focus power may be at a lower level.

How does it work for you?

That is funny you posted that because I was going to ask that myself. I used to prefer mornings but now I'm more focused at night, and if the weather is nice outside Its hard to practice during day for me.

For me practicing works better in the night because, that's the moment when i can put off all the stress i acumulated over the day,
but if we are talking about recording, my ears are fresh in the morning smile.gif

I probably 'learn' and assimilate better in the morning but I do most of my playing at night.
Actual practice - working on stuff I need to learn for gigs - gets done usually in the afternoon.

I like to play in the midle of the night. I can focus much better and it's a way to relax myself. Everybody sleeping and it's very quiet. No rings phone, nobody interrupts me, I'm in my world biggrin.gif

This is pretty much, the way it also works for me smile.gif Although if after late evening practicing I go to sleep late, I will wake up a little later - 9 o clock AM tops - that's late for me, as I usually get up around 7 AM.

Concentrated practice for me in the morning. In the evening, it's practice, but not as concentrated - my brain is typically on overload after work and I can barely put a sentence together.

I wake up at 3 in the morning, clear the cobwebs out for a little while reading this forum and other headlines, then get on the treadmill for 45 minutes to an hour, then practice guitar before taking a shower and going to work. I love the morning time most, and find that my brain can process stuff much better which allows me to be more on autopilot as the night comes. This is my weekday schedule, I'm much more relaxed on the weekends and tend to have a guitar in my hand most of the time on Saturday and Sunday.

I prefer to do things in the morning / noon time. In the afternoon, I can still work but I don't like to 'start' new tasks in the afternoon.

For some reason, I can be quite happy mixing / editing late into the evening.. I often get into the zone with that stuff.. but I don't seem to play or practise guitar in the evening. At least not lately.. it'll probably change again !

I find nights more inspiring for guitar playing and composing however the best way to practice focused is when I'm alone at home. It doesn't care too much about the time but it's related to the fact that nobody will distract me while I'm connected with my guitar and music.

Alone - a word that seems so nasty and yet, for us it's an amazing thing, because we get to focus on what we love doing 120% smile.gif

One thing I really hate about the time span between 10 AM - 6 PM is that the phones are ringing and there's email coming and everybody says - it's urgent! No, most of the times it's not smile.gif I can tell you from my experience wink.gif
