Hey everyone this morning before practice I began playing this and thought it would make a great track but I'm a little confused about the parts and where to go. If you guys could give me a little advise on the the sound of the guitar and what you like about the notes.

I know at 11sec I play a lick that I really like but I'm not sure how to use this is a song setting. Thanks for listening and any input.

What I can say (my first thought after pressing the play button is that I hear some tone improvement - nice balance between mids and highs. Before I found Your treble being a bit too harsh. Now I hear the tone with clearance in the mid range and some breath in treble. Would like to hear it in the mix with drums and bass.

One favor to ask - please post this kind of ideas at least with the metronome or drum sticks click so we could have and idea of precise rhythm concept in this one.

By far it reminds me o biut of Satch rhythmn concepts and I like it smile.gif

I think good choice of drum beat/rhythm would be the key to make that well groovin'

Ah thanks Darius! I'm going to start working on this tune during practice. Drums and bass are definitely needed.

I too feel my tone has improved, hopefully it sits well in the mix of other instruments.

Hi Jim, this sounds promising. There are good ideas happening there and the tone is warm and balanced. As Darius said, it would be great if you can create a backing for this one to start to make it sound more like a song. It doesn't seem to be an only guitar idea, your playing is needing a good drum groove and bass. Once you record the backing, your idea will start evolving much more, and you will be able to play it better.

Do you have drums and bass vsti? what are you using?

Thanks Gab! I do have an old bass but never play it. I also have ez drummer but haven't practiced enough. Seems like everytime I try to write drums I end up writing something completely different. Idk why it just happens. I'll think oh that's cool and end up with a string of drum bologna.

Should I try putting guitar rhythm first then drums, then bass, then melody?

So you have everything necessary to write your own songs with full band emulated!

Regarding your question, there is not a correct way to do it. You can start with drum groove, with guitar, with bass, and the good thing that you will surely get different results depending on the way you start. It's even a good trick to experiment.

In this case, you already have the guitar rhythm, so you could record it again with metronome, and then write the drum loop over your guitar. Then you can record guitar again over the finished drums, because sometimes we use to play with a different groove feel over metronome than drum rhythms.

Also remember that EZdrummer includes many drum loops that you can use to make the process of writing drums faster.
