Congratulations, I have been looking at that S model as well. You get an extremely well built lightweight guitar which is also super versatile with H-S-H, smooth/shreddy neck, and the whole double-locking floyd rose thing with some added innovative functionality.

Thanks man! I hope this one is a keeper, if it's anything like my Ibanez 10 years ago, it will be, except this one is prettier. I have missed that guitar I traded for a bass for a long time, and I remember how fun it was and how good it felt, and it was a mid-range guitar.

Super congrats I'm guessing that guitar is a keeper. I always urge caution when folks are buying their first of a given brand, but if you got the budget, that axe is a GREAT way to go!!!! It's nicer than any IBBY I've ever owned to be honest. Enjoy!!! Those 8 inch KRK are a great addition to any home studio. All in all two great buys!!!

And I guess I thought that if I was going to go through another guitar introduction with my wife - it better be worth it. As far as budget - well, no. In reality, I needed to spend the money on a new, bigger shed for the back yard - but as one of my friends told me - this is much sexier than a shed.

I'm very excited; at the same time a bit worried. In the long run, you only live once - and my son will have a nice collection of heirlooms.

I have to say I've NEVER regretted owning a nice guitar or nice studio gear!! It's stuff that I use more often than anything else I own. It really does make life better

Just got it in - feels wicked. A lot faster neck than even the Jackson I have, also VERY smooth on the back of the neck.

It was delivered here at work so I haven't plugged it in yet (still have to sneak it past my wife), but it sure is a beautiful guitar, built very well and very sturdy to be so thin. Nothing on this guitar comes across as cheap.

When I bought this guitar used about 5 years ago it was already upgraded with the EMG's, so I have never heard how the original pickups (INF's) sounded. I do like the EMG's though, especially the 60X neck pup. When I bought it, it was only a couple years old and I paid $350 for it with a soft case/bag. A craigslist special!

I'm wondering what are your impressions of KRK Rokit 8 monitors?
I've got KRK Rokit 5s and that is probably the best gear purchase I've made in a long time. I also like that fact that I get to use them a lot for everything (listening to music, jamming, recording, mixing).

As I understand, 8s should have much more bass in comparison to mine? Is that true?
As a bass player, I do find mine lacking a bit of low end booom

I have not heard the 8s yet. I use KRK 5s too - but will be hooking the 8s up tonight. I did get the KRK subwoofer for it a while back and it made all the difference in the world. I'll let you know, and I am like you as far as using mine for everything from recording to watching videos on you-tube.

Don't be jealous! You can revel in the fact I have a sick "just spent a lot of money feeling" and also enjoy the idea of my wife being pissed and me being celibate for quite a while.

I have not played it yet but was able to sneak it through the door - MISSION IMPOSSIBLE PHASE 1 OBJECTIVE: COMPLETE.

I strummed it for a few minutes at work and the acoustic quality is beautiful. If it needs being set up, I hope the action does not change a drop. I did notice however, that the tremolo bridge is not parallel to the body, there is a slight angle forward, so it may have to be set-up, but only 1 string was out of tune when I got it, and just barely - it was the G. Ever noticed that the G string is always the string with an issue?

Just hooked up the 8" speakers and HOLY COW - you talk about bass - I have too much bass now and am going to have to resort to reading the manual to figure out which knobs in the back to adjust.

I'm blown away by the difference in size 3" makes too...

WOW - thanks for the pic, that 5 looks so tiny in comparison to 8!
I think I'll need to upgrade eventually, especially since I don't play bass on my bass amp at home rather 90% through the KRK speakers. Not sure I'd have desk real estate for it though as it is already cramped.

Ever noticed that the G string is always the string with an issue?

I always had a theory (which is just made up! ), that the G string is always troublesome because it is a transition between wounded strings and "slick" ones yet not being thick nor thin.

In general, any new guitar coming from the factory could use a setup by a pro Sometimes no but generally yes. Glad to hear you are liking the 8s! Having two pair of monitors is a life saver when mixing! You can try the big pair, then try the mix on the small pair, just like they do is pro shops, and see how the mix will "translate" on different size systems. It's not exact of course, but it will give you an idea of how it will sound on larger speakers or rigs with subs vs smaller rigs or rigs without subs. Overall your mixes will "travel" better

Played it last night and it's a keeper. It will be my go-to guitar for everything in standard tuning. Only thing is I need to loosen the tremolo up because right now it's tight and sticks in position so my picking hand bangs into it, which makes me swat at it, which turns down the volume knob.

I'll take it in for a setup sometime next week, just to have the man look at it - I really hope nothing at all changes in the playability. The action is butter and I'm enjoying the 9s on it. The pickups are clean, not as hot as most everything else I own. For instance on the new PRS, those pickups sound fuzzy on the top strings, and the guitars with the EMGs are very hot and there is a lot of residual string noise just from picking that I've almost had to learn how to instantly mute the residual noise - with the pickups on this guitar, that stuff is not an issue at all, making things seem easier to play, same effect that my PRS Custom 22 has.

For the KRK's; place them as close to the wall as possible it should help reduce the boomyness of bass a bit. From website I see there are controls on the back, bring LF adjust to -1 or -2 if needed. Keep in mind though they are powerful monitors so ideal is acoustic treatment but no need to rush into that for now.
