Hey Himansu, how's it going ? smile.gif

I don't know exactly what Mattias's course would involve but I imagine a lot of it will involve his approach to song writing, phrasing and he'll share some of his popular licks and tricks etc.

I don't think it will be an intensive focus on drilling technique and improving technique etc but I could be wrong.

Honestly, if I were you and I liked the guitarists style - I would go! smile.gif

Why? Because that will be a very unique experience of playing guitar for a full week. I'm not sure what the program looks like, but I suppose that you'll be hanging around musicians and workshops all day long. Would you be sharing accommodation with fellow student guitarists? That should be a very cool experience on its own as you are bound to talk about guitar - a lot! You can be sure everyone there will be very dedicated to the guitar. What you shouldn't expect is instant progress or mechanic practice. You would be going there for the whole experience, not just the workshops. Try to soak up the shared knowledge and get inspired to practice the learned concepts at home. Hanging around musicians and being surrounded by music in such environment should be very beneficial. You could look at it as a guitar holiday smile.gif What you can bet on in the end that you'll never forget the summer you attended a guitar camp.

Thank you for the Reply Ben and Bogdan,

Thats quite true that I should not expect instant Over night Progress

What I was looking at is

Playing with so many Guitarists at one time
Networking with them

I would perform also, that would take my fears away and make me more confident I guess

I was wondering how much of a change can it bring to my confidence with respect to Playing in front of people and jamming with guitarists

If it can then That would be cool

I mean a 6 day Holiday when I could just Play Guitar 24x7 and learn as well

Honestly I have not head much of Mattias's music

But I have heard of him as a Virtuoso from Friends in India and here on GMC

Plus we do not have much of these camps in India

It should make a big difference! That kind of confidence is only obtained by going "into the fire". The more you expose yourself, the more experienced you'll get and it will help you feel more confident performing in front of other people. You can count on being nervous and such, but that never really goes away. The trick is to learn to perform in that kind of situation and then it will start being fun smile.gif

To me it sounds like you really wanna go and try looking at it like this : if you don't go, you'll most likely regret it very much and not get a 2nd chance. My advice when you feel you want to do something but don't have a courage to take the move - just close your eyes and do it. It will be so rewarding! smile.gif

I just remember that a fellow GMCer Superize might have experience in attending a guitar camp if I'm not mistaken.
I'll send him a PM now, he should be able to help you out and share the experience.

I have attended a music camp for 4 years now but it is not like the one you are going to i belive. The main focus on my camp is to learn have to sound good as a band and working on getting togheter a repertoar and play concerts at the end. There are very little focus on the instrumental part and not so much one on one time.

But i think that meeting other guitarist and learn from what i have heard a great guitarist like Mattias is something worth going to.

I attended a free "ia" clinic in a guitar store in Sotckholm - and he was very inspiring. I think it might have lasted for 30-60 minutes but that's when I picked up his typical style of harmonics.

I also asked him if he was worried about learning to play rhythm over a 12 bar blues and things like that when he was starting out (at the time I was young and I just wanted to shred, still I was worried I would end up non-musical if I did not follow a conventional path). However he confirmed that he had learned everything "backwards" as well - he learned how to sweep before he could bend etc - so that answer was valuable for me at the time, as it allowed me to keep doing everything the "wrong" way =)

For this price I would assume you are going to get personal help from him + jamming etc ? You should be able to find more info on the content of the camp, here you can see info about the Swedish version of it: http://www.freakguitar.com/fgc2014.html

I think it goes down to what you currently need. Do you need mentoring + a crash course in band playing, or just a boost of motivation?
