Hi Grayson Murray!! How are you?

Welcome to our thread for Gab's Army! Here I will help you with your guitar practice based on your goals as guitarist and musician. You've already shared with me some info that I will copy here as reference:

Current goals: Speed & Creativity.
Favorite Bands: dream theater, van halen, iron maiden, whitesnake, ozzy osbourne, dokken, cacophony, creed, alter bridge

I would like to know a bit more from you. Please tell me when you started playing guitar, which things you've worked, if you have experience composing or playing with a band. And specially share here recordings or videos of you playing.

Ok friend! Thanks for trusting in me, we will have a great time! biggrin.gif

Thanks for taking me in!
I started playing the guitar as a hobby 5 years ago and never stopped! I've worked on scales, hand synchronization, alternate/economy picking, riff writing, arpeggios and sweeping. I have never played with a band or composed (next year I plan to once my current internship is over) but played with a few friends who are into music production. Do I have to upload videos to youtube in order to share them?

Thanks!
- Grayson

Hi mate! Thanks for the info. Yes, the best way to share videos would be to use Youtube. You can set them as unlisted if you don't want them to be public at Youtube. Is it ok for you?

Perfect! What videos do you have? When are you planning to upload them?

In order to help you to design an effective guitar plan, I need to see your current skills so I would need to see you playing some riffing and soloing.

Some improvised licks/riffs. Sorry I haven't gotten you a video yet I've been working long hours! I have been able to learn your megadeth riffing lesson, john petrucci style lesson as well as your mustaine friedman style lessons. They've been great!

Cool list of lessons! Did you have problems with them? It would be very helpful for this workout together if you can post a video playing some of those lessons.

I was able to play the lessons but not up to speed on some of the licks! I apologize for not sending you a video yet.. I am working with an nfl team this year and have been putting in ridiculous hours in preparation for the season. In the small time I have to myself I've still been keeping my skills sharp on the guitar. Thanks for being patient with me I'm definitely dying to work wth you but am currently insanely busy!!

Thanks!

Hi mate, don't worry! As you are not having too much time for practice I recommend you to organize this time wisely. In order to see real results on "speed" topic, the best would be to dedicate around 30 minutes each day to speed exercises. You mostly should work on Legato and Alternate Picking at first. Short loops are the way to go in this case. Give a look at this list of lessons from my intensive technique course and let me know if you have some questions about the exercises: CLICK HERE
