I am not crazy about the songs, never was, not most of them. But Eddie was very good, especially for his time, one of the best in the world at that time. edit: Roth said that when he first met E Van Halen, the words that went though his mind were "there is my meal ticket". Rumor is now that once the reunion tour kicks off this fall Michael Anthony will be the bass man again. I thought Wolfgang on bass was a bad idea for the reunion and Michael Anthony as they al stand to make a lot of $$ off of this tour and all the original members should be able to get a piece of that pie regardless of personal feelings. The singer was very good, but without the guitarist, well, there are a ** load of good looking blonde guys out there that want to be singers. Not a lot of J Pages, E Van Halens. although you are right, his personality was not possible to replace. he could be what he was, and pull it off, outrageous, but still affable. I saw them back in....hmmm 83, 84ish in K.C. when Diamond Dave was still the man and most of you here, well.... were not.....here I mean, as in on this planet....yet. What a show. I also remember a couple of friends of mine who were a few years older than me played that first VH album. He had a little portable cassette player with batteries. They said, "check out this new band, the music is nothing like we have ever heard." They were right. At the time this album was released, there was no sound that could compare. I was an instant fan. I saw the Women and Children First tour. General Admission at the Cape Cod Colisium in Massachusetts, 1980. An incredible show and I have been to hundreds and hundreds. What made David Lee Roth so good at the time was his energy. I have yet to see anything like it. I was 15 at the time. I remember being right up front and there were so many people that I pushed my body up into the crowd and hung there between the crowd. No s*. After like 20 minutes, I slowly moved toward the left side of the stage with the rest of the crowd and when I dropped to my feet I was about 10 feet in front of Eddie. He immediately broke into Eruption. OMG I will never forget that. I just got the chills thinking about it - 27 years ago. May 3rd, 1980. I still have the ticket stub!
