> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Texas Blues Rock Shuffle (SRV) by Stephane Lucarelli

Second shot for me with this lesson. I've tried to be more acurate regarding timing, but also to play with more power. The first try was really too shy :-)

Yes man, this is loads better smile.gif

Timing is good and your rhythm attack is more forceful and confident.

The sliding lick at 0:26 is better than the previous attempt but it could still be improved. These little details can really make your playing sound more professional.

Hi Krakou, good job! Your timing is much better on this one. Now it's time to adjust some details that will make your take sound top level:

- The first slide, before the lesson starts, doesn't sound adjusted to the count in timing.
- The double string notes at 00:05 should include a micro bend that you are missing. It gives it a bluesy feel.
- Something weird sounds at 00:08, it seems that an extra note affects the sound of what you are playing.
- At 00:13 appears the same double string idea that should include the micro bend. This idea is being missed in the whole lesson so check it out.
- Isolate the lick at 00:18 and try to make is sound as Stephane's version. The slide is clearer, it has a more precise timing and there is a micro bend missing again.
- The slide at 00:19 has again a timing issue that affects the following riffs. It sounds faster than it should.
- The legato at 00:28 isn't clear, isolate and practice this part.

Ok mate, I'm doing a very deep analysis and marking every details since the overall is very good and now it's time to focus on this thing to take your playing to a new level. Maybe, a new problem will happen: You focus on details and timing issue appear again. This is normal because it's difficult to pay attention to everything. How to fix it?: You have to feel the groove instead of thinking it, and let your mind think on the other details until they also become natural. Practice is the key, as always.

Keep on the good job!

Hey there mate!

It's a better take indeed, for which I congratulate you, but as Gabi very well observed, you have a list of details to fix, so that the take could really shine wink.gif

Please work on implementing them at a slow tempo at which you can focus without too much trouble and then maybe you could record the improved take over the original and observe the spots in which Gabi told you about the missing details - are they there in your take as well and do they sound clean, articulated and in good timing? If so, your job has been completed and you will have a newly improved take which will most likely get the 10 wink.gif

All the best and keep rocking!
