Hey man sad.gif pfff, sorry to hear that.. BUT, I totally admire your attitude and I salute your perseverance of starting all over again smile.gif

Maybe you can build some kind of backup for the next session? It would be wise, so that you won't have to start all over again - anyway, I can't wait to hear the results and in the mean time, I just remembered this one - one of my favorites as well:

So I said Id share the drum update and here it is. This is my first attempt and all in all I'm pretty happy with my progression so far. It's about 2min long and still 4 more.

Some of the cymbals Greg uses were not available so I just tried to be creative with the splashs and crashes. I am fond of this track about 1 min in because the drums have a syncopated ride over a high hat double stroke thing. Then the mini drum solo which is a cool pattern of 6, 5, 5, 6.

Panning. I tried to listen to where the drums were sounding in his track on the audio landscape and panned them accordingly. Snare is just left of center, high tom left of center, all the other tom step to the right until the low floor is far right of center. Bass Drum is dead center and the cymbals are sporadically panned anywhere, but somewhere.

Some of the Mic Bleed levels are on and I'm just starting to understand how that works. I did add a compressor to the overhead mics and snare and bass. If I compressed the toms it seemed to take it too far. Id like to add a little reverb to the snare and possibly a touch on just the overhead cymbals but I'm not sure how to do that as Superior Drummer doesn't seem to have that built in. Could I send just those out of superior drummer into a new track perhaps and add reverb there?

As far as realistic and believable how does this track sound? There are 3 tracks 1 backing alone, backing and drums and my drums solo. Thanks for any input. biggrin.gif

Hey Jim smile.gif I love what you did here - it sounds very realistic and natural and I think you've done great so far!

Now, about your question - out of what I understood you panned each drum element - doesn't that mean they are on separate tracks? You should be able to add effects on each drum element on that particular track, correct?

Backblaze is awesome as a backup for working files (you have to keep your working files on an actual hard-drive - not a network or USB drive) , but it's a one-price fits all so got a terabyte to save? backblazeit.

For projects you've completed, consider a secondary external drive as well - I use a Synology 2xraid drive - pricey, but it's mirrored so you have two drives ($163 for the device - hard-drives you gotta buy separately)

but it's been good to me for quite some time now.

Chris!
