Thanks Gab, I had a great time smile.gif

I have marked the up and down beats for Part 3.
The notes marked with blue is played with downbeat, the ones marked with black are played with the upbeat and the ones in green are between up and downbeat.

Attached Image

Also I have a recorded a video for Part 3.
I thought it was quite easy to play along GuitarPro but over the backing it was a bit harder.
To me it does not sound totally tight.

I will post a video for Goo Goo Dolls in a few days smile.gif

I will keep on practicing this one.

Edit: I also recorded some takes of Goo Goo Dolls part 2 at 80 bpm

Thanks Gab, i have tried to play both the Strumming and arpeggio part but going from the strumming to arpeggio was a bit tricky so I will keep on practicing that part.

I will be going on a holiday now and I will be back Friday evening smile.gif

I recommend that you isolate each part and work on them as loops. Then you can also create an extra exercise that combine the last measure of the arpeggio with the first measure of the strumming.

So you would have 3 exercises:

1. Arpeggio section
2. Strumming section
3. Arpeggio/Strumming connection

Enjoy your vacation mate!

Hi Gab,
I am back from the Vacation now and started to practice again.
I noticed that the part 3 in Goo Goo dolls is another small arpeggio.
I will start to practice today the connection between part 1 and 2 for Goo Goo Dolls

Also I will attach a picture of my hand when playing the arpeggio

Hi Alex! Welcome back mate!! I hope that you enjoyed your vacation.

Thanks for the update and the picture. Your hand positioning looks ok, but I would recommend trying to put your thumb more in a centered position in relation to the other fingers.

Hi Gab,

Yes I did have a great time.
I hope you are doing well also smile.gif

I tried to move my thumb and it was better.
I recorded two videos yesterday. One for the Acoustic Solo and one for the Goo Goo Dolls.

I play the Part 1 and Part 2 of the Goo Goo Dolls at 80 BPM. I think the transition between the Strumming and arpeggio is quite good now.

Also a take for the Acoustic Solo at 75 bpm

Yes! The transition is good! Well done!! And you are also playing the arpeggio section very well. On the other hand, the strumming section is not sounding tight. As it happened before, you have timing issues when playing over hi-hat or metronome. As this is a complex meter, it's reasonable that you experience some timing issues. Work on it!

Nice! The first half is not sounding tight so it needs some special attention. Then, the second half sounds very good. I think that you need to continue practicing this section focusing on timing. The rhythm sounds right, but the timing is not tight.

Keep of the good work as always!

Thanks for your feedback.
I'm doing good. I hope you have a great time.
I will pay more attention to the hihat on the Goo Goo Dolls.

And for the solo I will try to sing the notes before I try to play it.

Thanks:)

Hi mate!! That sounds great. Remember to tap with your foot, or move your head with the groove in order to keep your timing tight.

Hi Gab biggrin.gif
I recorded a video just now for part 1 + 2 for Goo Goo Dolls at 80 BPM.

I have noticed something, when I play the Strumming section then I tap my foot along with the hi hat but when I play the arpeggio section then I only tap it along with the kick or snare.

I did a little experiment and tried to not play and just tap my foot, and then I could tap it along the hi hat for the arpeggio part.

What do you think about my takes? And do you have any tips how to tap my foot along the hihat while playing the arpeggio part as well?

Hi Alex, how are you?

Great job!! Both takes sound very good. Your playing is tight, and they have the right feel and dynamics. I think that you can move forward with this lesson.

Regarding the 'tap with your foot' thing, I don't think that it's a problem to go with the kick and snare when the drums start. You are following the stronger beats of the 6/8 meter so it really makes sense. If you want to get used to follow the hi hats, the only thing that you can do is to slow down until you can think on both things at the same time, and practice for a while. After some practice it will become natural and you'll be able to do it.

Hey Gab,
I am doing pretty good. How are you?
Thanks I will start with part 3 then.

Interesting, I will experiment a bit with this and see. I thought it would be easier to play tight if I tapped my foot with the hi hats actually, because then my foot would tap more and it would be easier to follow and be consistent.
I will also try and see how it would work if I would follow the stronger beats of the 6/8 meter for the strumming section as well.

I don't think that tapping very fast is necessary. You can count internally but tap with your foot as you are already doing.

Hey Gab,
How are you doing? wink.gif

I have practiced the tapping a bit and it was good that you said that tapping fast is not necessary so I will stick to how I do it now smile.gif

I recorded a video for the part 3 of Goo Goo Dolls. I played the last part of Part 2 as well so I will be able to transition easily.
It is at 80 BPM. It is just another arpeggio, it took a bit of time to get used to the fingerin but the picking was quite easy.

What do you think?

Hi mate! how are you feeling? It's great to see that you are getting close with this one!

This sounds good. There are some parts where your timing is not precise, but these parts happen when you have the trickier chord changes so it's just a matter of time. You already can play the right hand pattern, you just need to get more familiar with the chords used.

Please continue practicing the changes before increasing tempo. Once you feel comfortable at this tempo, work at a faster one.
